Synthesis Of Alkyd Resin Paint With Cyclopentadiene-Modifild Semi-Drying Oil

This paper introduced the preparation method of modified alkyd resin.One ingredient of C5 -Cyclopentadiene (CPD) was used in production of alkyd resin paint. This method improved the property of semi-drying vegetable oil that was a main material to synthesize alkyd resin, which could keep drying in the air and has other behaviors as drying oil resin when it was used for synthesizing resin. Moreover, the influence of the addition of CPD on the propertist of lacquer-film was studied. The results of these tests showed that paints produced by this method met the requirement of the standard.In this paper, we studied used as active solvent in the alkyd resin coating. First ethylene glycol mono-dicyclopenyl ether was synthesized by addition reaction of dicyclopentadiene and ethylene glycol, and then the ethylene glycol mono-dicyclopenyl ether methyl acrylate was synthesis with the ethylene glycol mono-dicyclopenyl ether and methyl acrylic acid.Through test, it was proved that not only the soluent could dilute and reduce the viscosity, but also was a part of the materials for forming the coating, and could increase the weight of solid content of paint. Moreover,it has high boiling point, low volatility and poisonousness. So it fits the request of environmental protection therefore we could confirm the reasonability and feasibility of this method. The method possesses broad developing prospects and good economic benefits.
