Flocculation is the most widely adopted method in the wastewater treatment. The flocculation is directly influenced by character of flocculants. A newly high-effective flocculants is produced and applied in papermaking wastewater treatment process. Presently, instrument analysis is commonly used for the study of flocculating effect. The floe image is analysis by the computer-vision-analysis system, then the defect of long-time span should be overcome and on-line monitoring the wastewater flocculating process should be realized in the future. In the first part of this paper, the producing technologies of PAC and PASC with inorganic raw material is discussed in details. In the second part, PASC and several other kinds of flocculants are used to treat the diatomite suspension , the deinked effluent, the white water and the medium-sector effluent of papermaking. The flocculation experiments results show that the flocculation effect of the PASC is superior to the that of other flocculants used. In the third part of this paper, optimal hydraulic conditions of wastewater flocculation process are studied and severalfactors affecting the forming process of floc are confirmed, the process of flocculation is monitored and analyzed by the computer-vision-analysis system. The dynamic properties of floe were studied with the computer for the purpose of supplying the base of auto-controlling of wastewater treating.
