Under the background of global environment variety, the problem of waterresource shortage had already tumed into a resource and environment problem whichwas highly anticipated in the world. As a country with water resource shortage, climatechange and economy development brought the fluctuation of water consumption ofeach city, so it is necessary to study the change of urban water consumption and therelation of water consumption and economy and climate.According to the characteristics of the urban water consumption, urban waterconsumption can be divided into two parts, including domestic water and productivewater consumption. Based on the data of productive water consumption and GDP, theutilization efficiency of urban water consumption can be calculated, and KuznetsCurve theories and models were used in this dissertation; using the polynomialalgorithm to fit the trend of the average of urban every domestic water consumptionper capital, then climate water consumption in a day, the water consumption caused byclimate can be separated. Based on those, the relations of between productive waterconsumption and economy development, climate consumption and the weather factorhave been analyzed. The conclusions were shown as follow:(1) On the whole, urban water consumption of China kept increasing, and hasgone through a variety process as: slow increasing-fast increasing-rapid increasingincreasing-converge to a stable state; the water consumption of every city appearsvariance in different regions. The water consumptions of each provincial capital cityand the eastern circumlittoral city are more greatly, those of the cities of the centerChina are in the middle, westem region cite are at the least; According to thecharacteristics of the proportion of water consumption, the cities in China can bedivided into three types: the type of mainly domestic water consumption, type ofmainly productive water consumption, type of equivalence between living water andproductive water consumption.(2) The water consumption per 10000 GDP of the cities of China appear apparently differences in time and space, basically the utilization efficiencies of urbanwater consumptions were raising; the spatial distribution of utilization efficiencies ofwater resources appear that the water consumption per 10000 GDP is increasing as theorder of the eastern region (especially in eastern circumlittoral city), the middle region, and the western region.(3) The relation of the change of urban water consumption and economydevelopment is in accord with the reversed "U" type of the environment KuznetsCurve. In the early time of the economy development, the productive waterconsumption increased rapidly because of the eager of high speed economic progress;when the economy reached a certain level, because of the strengthened realization ofreserving water, the enhanced technique level and the adjusted industrial structure, productive water consumption reduced.(4) Temperature, precipitation and humidity are the main weather factor whichcan influence the urban water consumption. Various weather factors on the influence tothe city water resources have obvious different. According to correlation coefficientbetween weather and the climate water consumption, may divide our country cities intothe different influence area.
