The regional climate response to land use and land cover (LULC) changes of Arid Region in China is studied by a regional climate model. The impact of LULC variation on regional climate is first discussed theoretically, and then a regional climate model is then used for a topography change simulation in Arid Region to analyze the impact of topography to climate in Arid Region. The results confirm the crucial actions of topography to climate in Arid Region. But these geographic character is unchangeable, so we must depend on factors that activity of human being can affect, such as LULC. So we increase plant cover by 7 percent in every grid (making transitional field changed from desert into oasis) to study the impact of LULC variation on regional climate. We found that the summer climate of north in Arid Region becomes better, speed of wind in low level deducing, so does the climate south in Arid Region, which shows that the regional climate is affected by LULC variation sensitively and proved that the proper land use is of significance for mitigating the global warming and for ameliorating the deteriorated ecological environment. For proper land use, we further study the impact of LULC variation on regional climate in sensitive climate field and in mosaic nesting field. We found that there are different the impact of LULC variation on regional climate between in sensitive climate field and in ordinary climate field and the impact of LULC variation on regional climate in sensitive climate field is bigger than the one in ordinary climate field. We suggest that when beginning forestation in Arid Region, firstly does it in transition field between oasis and desert, then in sensitive climate field, lastly does it by oasis-desert mosaic nesting.
