Britain is the first Western power to recognize the People’s Republic of China. On January 6,1950,the United Kingdom disregarded the opposition of the United States, recognized the People’s Republic of China, and sent Hutchison as the British Chargéd’Affaires to come to China.Since then, the British have had diplomatic personnel in China. These people live in China and observe China closely. All aspects of China are reported to be sent back to the UK,and there is also an annual report on China. The purpose of this paper is to sort out these annual reports. From these reports,we analyze how the United Kingdom which is the most important partner of America in cold war view China’s development, how China and the Soviet Union, socialist groups, and Asian countries are related. It helps to understand Westerners’ perception of “China’s image”.The Sino-British relationship makes judgments and reactions.Through combing analysis,it can also provide a reference for China to deal with foreign relations. The annual report of British diplomats generally summarizes China’s internal and external affairs in this year from both internal and external aspects.Through these annual reports,it can be seen that the United Kingdom believes that China has quickly achieved economic recovery and development on the basis of the mess left by the Kuomintang and successfully completed the "First Five-Year Plan".The development of China’s economy provides better opportunities of Sino-British trade. But at the same time, the vigorous movement to Resist America and Aid Korea and the San Fan/Wu Fan campaign in China have made British businessmen and businesses face many difficulties in China, causing these businessmen and enterprises to return to shut down and leave China. The Sino-British trade will pass through Geneva. After the meeting, the trade delegations of both parties will come. They have a comprehensive understanding of China’s achievements and social movements, and consider them from the perspective of trade with Britain.During this period,China’s externalrelations were intimately hostile to the United States, but relations with Asia, the Soviet Union, and the countries within the socialist camp were at a friendly stage. In particular, relations with the Soviet Union were still in the “honeymoon period”.Focusing on the relationship between China and other countries, the focus is on the relationship with the Soviet Union and the United States, which is in line with the background of the Cold War.In short, the attention of these diplomats in their annual reports on China is to serve the basic goal of safeguarding and developing the interests of the United Kingdom in China. On this basis, the UK’s Asian Cold War strategy will be further realized, keep China away from the Soviet Union as much as possible. This in turn makes it clear that the UK is using economic and diplomatic means to achieve its goals.
