The Production Of Space And Criticism Of Contemporary Capital ——A Study Of David Harvey’s Historical-Geographical Materialism

Marx’s philosophical revolution contains the interpretation principles of the new world view.Historical materialism always around the historical development of internal power,the internal mechanism of the evolution of history and the future road of human liberation,in the internal contradiction of capitalist mode of production and capital logic demonstrates the historical inevitability of socialism replace capitalism,in the process of exploring the road of proletarian revolution rich and develop its own interpretation.However,in the century and a half after Marx published Capital,Capitalism,after experiencing multiple crises,has made the contemporary capitalist society still show continuous vitality and show many new changes.Although contemporary capitalism has shown many new changes,the nature of the age has not changed fundamentally,and the internal logic of capital development and the main contradiction of its existence have not changed fundamentally.In fact,behind the new changes of contemporary capitalism is the capitalist mode of production leads to a deeper crisis and contradiction.In the social life where capital logic is still the dominant force,contemporary capitalism shows a high degree of flexibility and concealment in all links and fields,and integrates space into the capital logic.Therefore,the construction of space critical theory based on historical materialism has become a necessary research topic.David Harvey intervened in the study of contemporary capital by Marxist theory with the spatial analysis of geography.After turning to Marxism,Harvey first created a unique academic path in the geography tradition with the attitude of a rebel.By treating geography knowledge as a political force,he put forward the theoretical innovation requirements of communicating empirical research and critical position.Then,as an innovator,he tries to expand the contemporary space of Historical Materialism in the Marxist tradition,activates the spatial creation contained in the criticism of Marx’s political economy through the spatial imagination of geography,and puts forward the theoretical upgrading requirements of constructing Historical-Geographical Materialism.First,by reviewing the philosophy of geography insisted by Harvey and its early multi-dimensional spatial view,this paper truly presents the theoretical tendency of Harvey before turning to Marxism,and points out that it contains the theoretical premise and position preparation of Harvey’s abandonment of Positivism to Marxism.Harvey in the transition period of radical geography began to change their research focus,starting from the poverty of geography to explore the way of theoretical innovation,at this stage,Harvey did not really understand Marx’s Historical Materialism,so can only first bring Marxist position into the geography research,put forward guided by Historical Materialism "people’s geography".Further,by fully presenting the spatiotemporal perspective of Historical-Geograph ical Materialism on capital logic,Harvey can better grasp why and how to "upgrade" historical materialism into Historical-Geographical Materialism.After reading Capital,Harvey formed a creative interpretation of Capital,and initially presented his Historical-Geographical Materialism in the book The Limits of Capital.Through The Limits of Capital,Harvey realized the study of space production problems with the basic principles of Historical Materialism,which contains many substantial breakthroughs and innovative contributions.Harvey put forward three cuts of crisis theory is through the construction of Historical-Geographical Materialism analysis framework of a main line,starting from the internal contradictions of capitalism carefully analyzed the capital accumulation and value loss of excessive accumulation process,and combined with capital secondary cycle and tertiary cycle demonstrates the capitalism constantly through the mechanism of space and time of transfer strategy to the crisis to a deeper level.The practice of space production under the capitalist mode of production is the trend
