Abstract/Summary:
The use of the Internet has increased dramatically the last few years. The objective of this study was to evaluate the progression of computer networks and the Internet in corporate structures and to consider the issues of computer security and computer crime as they relate to this process. Increased use of computer technology has caused an increase in computer-based crime, forcing companies to recognize the range of problems that create this, from the misuse of computer technology by employees, to the influx of computer hackers, to the retrieval of company information from both internal and external sources. This trend has led to a steady and sophisticated increase in attacks. Using survey methodology, various computer security questionnaires were examined. An array of descriptive statistics related to the general computer security knowledge and attitude of the research participants, including frequency and percentages, is presented.
