In the past few decades, the economy has been interwoven with many issues, such as climate change, and social and economic emergency events.Frequent occurrences of black swan events lead to a complicated and uncertain situation of global economy that highlights the economic vulnerability problem.Economic vulnerability is the core issue of the science of economic growth sustainability. At the first Economic World Forum,Klaus Schwab(2001)pointed out that "to achieve sustainable development, first of all,we have to reduce vulnerability in development".On 25 September 2015,Transforming our World:the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted at the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development. It was proposed that the new target of sustainable development is to strengthen global macroeconomic stability and achieve sustainable economic growth. There has been a clear downward trend for China's economic growth after 2010,and China's economic vulnerability became one of the main concerns of world economy in 2015.China's economy is confronted with sustainability issues. In this context,a study on the economic vulnerability in China's economic growth will theoretically enrich the existed subject theories about economic geography and economic growth;methodologically contribute to the scientific quantification of economic vulnerability;and practically facilitate sound economic growth and sustainable development,as well as scientific and rational planning of regional economy, which may provide the scientific basis for sustainable economic growth and local government decision-making.This paper is divided into four major sections. In the first section(including Chapter One and Chapter Two),the research background, research significance, research objective, research content, research method and technical route of economic vulnerability will be introduced;based on a theoretical analysis of vulnerability, the research framework of economic vulnerability will be proposed. In the second section(including Chapter Three,Chapter Four and Chapter Five),the characteristics of vulnerability of China's economy will be analyzed;the multilevel extension evaluation method will be adopted to comprehensively evaluate economic vulnerability, and the trend change and spatial pattern characteristics of economic vulnerability will be analyzed. In the third section(including Chapter Six,Chapter Seven and Chapter Eight),the potential loss inflicted by economic vulnerability on economic growth will be estimated;the system generation mechanism of economic vulnerability will be analyzed;the space formation mechanism of economic vulnerability will be analyzed as well.In the fourth section(including Chapter Nine and Chapter Ten),the regulation direction and regulation measures taken to reduce economic vulnerability will be proposed;the research conclusion, research inadequacy and research innovation of this paper will be analyzed, and problems that need to be solved will be pointed out.The main conclusions of this study are as follows:1.China's economic vulnerability has seen a gradual decline and one of its characteristics is that it is higher in the west but lower in the east, while economic vulnerability types are on an increase;2.The potential loss inflicted by economic vulnerability on economic growth is considerable, and economic growth has a remarkable release space;3.The vulnerability of social subsystems has become the main cause of China's economic vulnerability, and economic adaptability is in an uncoordinated recession;4.The regional difference of China's economic vulnerability has seen a trend of gradual expansion, and so has the internal difference within the region of economic vulnerability, and the internal difference within the region is the main reason for the expansion of difference of economic vulnerability;5.Economic growth and economic vulnerability are characterized by distinctive spatial correlation in terms of spatial distribution, and economic vulnerability has an obvious negative spillover effect on the economic growth of neighboring regions, yet the spillover effect has been slightly positive in the western regions of china;6.To reduce economic vulnerability, the major measures are taken in areas such as industrial security, finance, poverty alleviation, health care, environmental governance, urbanization, scientific and technological innovation and factor price, and it is suggested that economic vulnerability can be applied to regional economic planning.
