| After three hundred years developing,Chinese watercolor has developed from the original foreign art form into a painting type with distinct Chinese characteristics and academic level.The history of Chinese watercolor is a history of watercolor style evolution,it expanded from the research on styles to the exhibition dimension.The thesis tries to make the past National Watercolor and Gouache Exhibitions as the research object,thus forming a new method and research of watercolor style of the cultural context with external and internal research.By doing so,it will be helpful in grasping the situation of Chinese contemporary watercolor,studying the development regulation of Chinese watercolor,which is a highly effective way to improve Chinese watercolor research to an academic level.The thesis is divided into seven chapters:The first chapter mainly introduces the status and formation of Chinese watercolor with its introduction and its climax in 1920 s and 1930 s.It mainly carries on the analysis from several aspects that influence Chinese early watercolor development,such as the background,the ideological origin,the educational system,the exhibition activities,the academic groups,the representative artists,the style characteristic and social origin etc..The second chapter discusses the development and style changing of Chinese after in the new P.R.C era,especially in the 17 years of art and during the Cultural Revolution.Meanwhile,by trying to analysis on the combining the transformation and the establishment of the official exhibition system,it tries state how the realism becoming the mainstream of official exhibition in the era.The third chapter discusses the situation of Chinese watercolor’s return and its contemporary transformation in the new period.After comparing the similarities and differences of the two folk exhibitions in Chinese watercolor history,it tries to analysis on the style changing reason twice due to opening to the western in-depth.Meanwhile,it tries to further discuss on the style development and the main content caused by the 6th and 7th National Art Exhibition.The fourth chapter put emphasis on the 1st Watercolor and Gouache Exhibition,which is also the symbol of Watercolor as an independent painting type.What’s more,it further explores the influence of the establishment of Watercolor Exhibition System to the evolution of Chinese watercolor style.The fifth chapter discusses the establishment of Watercolor Arts Council of Chinese Artists’ Association,which is far-reaching impact on the formation of Chinese watercolor pattern.With the example of the three watercolor exhibitions,it states the relationship between the initial formation of the watercolor style and the local artistic style and the exhibition system.The sixth chapter starts from the 4th National Chinese Watercolor and Gouache Exhibition,which is also the 2nd symbol of Chinese contemporary watercolor development.When talking about the following exhibitions and the afterwards style showing,including the peak of realism,and the development trend of shifting towards self-expression and selfconsciousness,it shows the basic form of Chinese contemporary watercolor development being builtThe seventh chapter states on the evolution of Chinese watercolor by highlighting the alteration of realism and language development model to the problem consciousness and artistic concept,discussing the multiple trend of more and more modern,with the example of style examples appearing in the 7th,8th,9th and 10 th National Watercolor and Gouache Exhibition and the 11 th National Art Exhibition..The conclusion summaries on the relationship between the exhibition and Chinese watercolor style evolution,it also explores the problems and drawbacks of that existing in the official Chinese Watercolor Exhibition,It also makes the research more significant by extending the study on style analysis to the exhibition dimensional research.Because of the rule of artistic creation,the research on contemporary Chinese watercolor could not be summed up with definite conclusions,but should research regularly based on the dynamic development concept and the art historical materials. |
