Chaos theory has extensive applications in numerous fields, and the research on this technique has important theory and practice value, which especially more and more demonstrates its superiority in the weak signal detecting. This paper unified the project supported by the nation natural fund. Systemic analyses on chaos theory and applications in the signal processing about its latest progress in domestic and international are carried out. Gauss characteristic of chaos system and non-stational characteristic of chaos signal are analyzed in detail. On the bases of classic judge chaos methods, chaos criterion has researched base on Melnicov method detecting arbitrary periodic signals. In view of the traditional time domain detecting methods, which existed high signal to noise ratio threshold, the detecting method is proposed based on phase orbits change. Mixed detecting methods about cross- correlation (auto- correlation) combined with chaos theory are emphatically studied , the system detecting performance are analyzed. In the same time, in view of the unknown frequency, three detecting methods are proposed. These contents all are hot spot research based on chaos theory to detect signal, which have the vital significance to the chaos theory development and the actual project application. The principle research work and achievements of the paper are as follows:1. First according to the requests about chaos method to detect weak signal, chaos characteristic and the essential chaos system mathematical model are briefly analyzed. On the bases of analysis about Duffing chaos system dynamics characteristic, which is held important position in chaos detection, gauss...
