Up to now, the popular control modes for smart power integrated circuit (SPIC) are PWM and PFM. PWM bases on CFVW (Constant Frequency Variable Width) control pulse, whereas, PFM bases on CWVF (Constant Width Variable Frequency) control pulse. PWM converter has low efficiency with light loads and high amplitude harmonic. On the other hand, the control circuit and filter for PFM are much complex. This dissertation proposes a novel modulation mode named PSM (Pulse Skip Modulation) for SPIC converter, which bases on CWCF (Constant Width Constant Frequency) control pulse. It is shown that PSM converter would improve its efficiency and suppress EMI. It also has quick response speed, good interfere rejection and strong robust. Furthermore, it is easy to realize PSM control circuit. The modulating theories of PSM are firstly studied in the world according to the author's investigation,This dissertation majors on studying the theories and principles of PSM, EMI measurement and EMI suppression teclinique and a SPIC example based on the PSM theories. The detail contributions of the dissertation are listed as follow:1. The modulating theories of PSM studied in this dissertation include threeaspects:1) The concept of PSM for electrical converter systems is firstly proposed in this dissertation. The modulating principle of PSM that adjusting the skipped cycles to regulate the output voltage is expounded in this dissertation.2) The state space averaging mode and the large signal modes of PSM are firstly built in this dissertation. Basing on the state space averaging mode, the stability response characteristics and efficiency are analyzed. The big signal modes include big signal analytic mode, discrete iterative mode and phase plane mode. Basing on these modes, the dynamic response characteristics and interfere rejection behavior of PSM converter are analyzed in the dissertation.3) A novel modulation mode for SPIC converter named fuzzy pulse skip modulation mode (FPSM) is also proposed and studied in this dissertation.2. The EMI measurement and rejection technique are also discussed in this dissertation.
