Chemical structure of LC determines its physical properties. Physical properties determine the display properties. To achieve the different desired display effects, complex LC mixtures made up of several components have to be designed. LC Mixing Management System was developed according to the additive rule and linear inductive method in this paper. This system provides not only the management and operation of the database such as mono LC compounds, commercial LC mixtures, chiral materials and LC patents etc., but also the computation of LC mixture formulas used in passive-TN/STN/active-TFT display mode. The results show that the formulas made up of homologue compounds show no difference with the references. For the non-homologue compounds the computed results have the deviation to some extent. The reasons were given and the resolution scheme was raised in this paper. The mono LC compounds have been coded and the rules for selecting LC compounds are provided in this paper.Reflective bistable display, transmissive display and scattering display can be realized through changing the pitch of Ch-LC and adding the polymer monomer into the mixture. These displays have a good prospect in display application. Three kinds of devices were technologically designed and studied through computing the mixture formulas by the above-mentioned system and mixing the Ch-LC in this paper. The Ch-LC whose pitch is between 0.5 to 1.0 um reflects visible light. It can be used for reflective bistable display because of its bistable states at zero field. The bistable switching mechanics was analyzed. The colorized scheme, which the Ch-LC was fixed to RGB color at different temperature and pixelized by the thermal effect of the CH-LC was put forward for the first time of the world. This scheme called many experts's attention. The Ch-LC whose pitch is between 2.5 to 5.0 u m reflects infrared light. It can be used for PSCTLCD through adding little amount of polymer. The influential actors such as polymer type and concentration, chiral concentration, UV light intensity, etc. on E-O characteristics of NB-PSCTLCD have been studied. The optimized devices were used in Chinese Fire Lab as light shutter. When the polymerconcentration is higher than 10wt%, the polymer wall can be formed by electric -field induced phase separation method. The slower the speed of the lowering temperature, the better the phase separation, the clearer the wall bounder, the better the alignment of the LC molecules in the LC region.
