By acquiring the infrared polarization information of the target, we can make up the insufficiency of traditional infrared detection technology effectively, and obtain more information available to detect and recognize the targets. Polarization detection technology can increase contrast between target and background effectively in some special circumstances, and has great application potentials. Therefore, it is quite necessary for further expanding the application fields of the infrared polarization detection technology. In this paper, we studied the infrared polarization characteristics of space targets and some key technologies. The main research works include:(1) Research on the calibration of infrared polarization detection system.In order to acquire infrared polarization information accurately, and to carry out the quantitative analysis research on the infrared polarization information of the target, it is quite necessary to accomplish the calibration of the polarization detection system. A calibration method of doing radiometric calibration in four polarization detection channels and the calibration of system Miller matrix is presented in this article. Through the radiometric calibration in four polarization detection channels, we could obtained the relationship between response values and the radiance, and based on this we completed the calibration to the Miller matrix of the system.(2) The quantitative verification analysis to the polarization characteristics of the infrared spontaneous emission.Whether the infrared spontaneous emission has the polarization characteristics or not, and what the polarization characteristics are, which lack theoretical analysis and experiment verification. I made preliminary theoretical analysis, built some simulation models on infrared spontaneous emission polarization, and also carried verification experiment in this article.(3) Research on the space targets and its infrared emission polarization characteristics.Combined with the characteristics of space target and space radiation environment, infrared emission polarization characteristics of satellites was analyzed and also some experiment analysis was carried out. Firstly, I introduced the structure of satellites, and also summarized the commonly used materials. Secondly, I analyzed how the radiation environment of space targets affect infrared radiation polarization characteristics of space targets through building some simulation models. Finally, from observation angles, surface conditions and other factors, I carried out experimental analysis to the infrared radiation polarization characteristics of the common materials used in satellites.(4)Research on microgrid simultaneous polarization detection technology to detect space targets.Using microgrid simultaneous polarization detection technology, we can obtain the four images of different polarization images at the same time, so this technology can be used to detect the moving targets. This chapter, we carried on the related research on microgrid simultaneous polarization detection technology, and analyzed some of the existing measurement error, and also studied some IFOV correction algorithms.
