The open cut mining deals with the coal resources formed and contained under the ground. It lacks the uniform and effective scientific method for the open cut mining and planning due to the unpredictability and differences of the coal bed. Even though through decades of development, some relatively effective means and methods were formed in the application basic science and technology, no satisfaction has ever been achieved in the aspect of coal bed estimation and pre-survey, pit limit define and technical economy evaluation of the mining.Antaibao Surface Coal Mine is a special large scale coal mine with annual production capacity of 22 million tons of coal and annual total amount 130 million cubic meters of coal mined and overburden stripped. The mine does the multiple-seam mining, and mining depth is 200 meters. The total thickness of the three coal seams is 26 meters and the annual production cost is 2.5 billion yuan. In the past years, the mine accumulated rich experiences in production planning but still sees the following problems that need to be resolved pretty urgently: there is no complete managing system for the geological data; there is no effective coal bed model formed by utilizing the geological data resources; after Anjialing No. 2 underground mine, which used caving mining beneath the south slope, went into full scale operation, no assessment of the hazard with regard to pit limit designing and slope stability has been done, neither the corresponding measures have been taken.This thesis made the full use of the geological survey result to set the data base of geology and coal quality resources, which not only contains the data from drilling and logging, but also contains the data of coal quality laboratory analysis; at the same time according to the preparation yield calculated from the float-and- sink analysis during the preparation, incorporated the quality of the merchandised coal into the data base, thus the DTM, Solid model and block model of the coal model were formed. In accordance with the geological model, a comprehensive assessment is carried out regarding the reserves and coal quality within the mining area. It provides the basis and basic conditions for the formulation of the reasonable optimized production plan for the mine, including the mining area schema for the mining direction changes, the mining sequence and the coal quality collocation.No. 2 underground mine comprehensive caving mining face already stretches into the slope of surface mine, which greatly affects the safety and production of Antaibao Surface Coal Mine. By using the numerical calculation and analog simulation with the data obtained onsite, this thesis gives out the estimation of the damages that would incur due to the caving mining by the underground mine beneath the slope of Antaibao south slope, puts forward the optimized adjustment method for the pit limit design parameters.The optimum working length has been determined based on the circumstances of production capacity, the annual advance distance of the pit, the stripping ration and the haulage distance.
