Mangroves are woody plant communities which occur in the intertidal zones on tropical and subtropical coast .Due to several destruction of mangrove forest, there are now less than 5000 hm2 of mangrove forest most of which are secondary forest. In mangrove forest there are important resources for timber exploitation, also there are abundant plant resources for traditional Chinese medicine. Further, mangroves are in promising research projects of marine biopharmaceutical resources for development and application in the future. Mangrove forest is natural protective belt for seashore and dams.Consequently morphological research field seldom reported such as absorptive roots and external secretory structure except salt glands are studied in the paper by paraffin method ; the chlorophylls and main minerals of some mangroves are estimated and analyzed by the means of atomic absorption spectrophotometric method, Kjeldahl method , spectrophotometric method , respectively. Meanwhile mangrove forest flora of Hainan island have been investigated in recent years by the classical taxonomical method .The major results are as follows:1. There are 151 species , 118 genera ,46 families in Hainan mangrove forest flora ,including 33 eumangrove species ,31 semi-mangrove species ,88 associates. Mangrove flora of Hainan island is part of Asian mangrove flora and shows a characteristic of tropical northern edge of Asian mangrove flora. The flora of Hainan mangrove forest is firstly studied systematically on family, genus and species. Conspecific eumangroves Acrostichum aureum and Acanthus ilicifolius distribute on both old world tropical region and neotropical region (tropical America).2. Natural resources of mangrove forest of Hainan island has been losing , the mangrove ecosystem has deteriorated; It is very difficult for the mangrove ecosystem to restore and reconstitute.3. The semi-mangrove Clerodendrum inerme is salt-tolerant very much like other mangroves . Accumulation of elements Na,Cl in the leaves(%dried weight) of Clerodendrum inerme growing in saline water are respectively 3.74%, 1.277%; and...
