To investigate the impact of Western medicine and Lizhong Decoction on lung infection following severe traumatic brain injury(sTBI).Hence,80 patients at our institution who had suffered sTBI were chosen and randomly split into observation and control groups, with 40 cases in each group. After surgery, all patients got critical care therapy. On the basis of the standard therapy, the observation group was augmented with Lizhong Decoction, and both groups got ongoing care for 10 days.White blood cell count, procalcitonin, hypersensitive C-reactive protein,IgG,IgM,albumin, prealbumin, and other laboratory indices were collected prior to and during therapy. The statistical differences between the two groups were then analy zed. Results After 10 days of treatment, the leukocyte count, procal citonin,interleukin-6,hypersensitive C-reactive protein, lactic acid,neutrophil-gelatinase-associated lipid carrier protein(NGAL),lung infection duration and clinical lung infection score(CPIS)in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),IgG,IgM,IgA,albumin,prealbumin were significantly b etter than control group(all P<0.05).After therapy, there was no discernible change in the lymphocyte subsets between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Lizhong Decoction helps sTBI patients manage their lung infections by shortening the duration of the illness, reducing inflammation, and improving nutritional condition.
