Objective: Based on the theory of " the kidney being the origin of congenital con stitution ",this paper preliminarily explored the relevant risk factors of idiopathic shor t stature in children, providing reference for the prevention and intervention of idiopat hic short stature in children. Methods: 366 children with ISS aged from 3 to 10 years old who were treated in the pediatric growth and development Department of Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were included in the case group from Dec ember 2021 to December 2022.During the same Period,366 Children with normal he ight were selected as the control group. The case control study was conducted in the f orm of a questionnaire survey to investigate the pathogenic factors that may affect the kidney essence and kidney qi,and may cause idiopathic short stature, such as parents’ conditions, maternal pregnancy conditions, and postnatal conditions.SPSS25.0 was u sed for statistical processing.Univariate analysis was conducted for the two groups of risk factors, and significant variables in the univariate analysis were included in the lo gistic regression analysis. Results: In this investigation,366 children with ISS were included in the case gr oup and 366 children with normal height were included in the control group.1.Sex and age distribution: there are 174 women and 192 men in the idiopathic s hort stature group,165 women and 201 men in the normal height group. The age rang e of both groups is 3-10 years old,the average age of the case group is 6.04 ± 2.14 yea rs old,and the average age of the control group is 5.93 ± 2.13 years old.there is no sta tistical difference between the gender and age of children in the two groups(P>0.05).2.Univariate analysis shows that there are statistically significant differences bet ween the idiopathic short stature group and the normal height group in terms of father’s height, mother’s height, mother’s inflammation of uterine appendages, mother’s previ ous miscarriages, weight gain during pregnancy, depression during pregnancy, gestati onal hypertension, hyperemesis gravidarum, gestational age, neonatal asphyxia, postn atal feeding methods, and anorexia(P<0.05).3.The Logistic regression analysis shows that: father’s height(OR=1.822,95% C I: 1.438~2.310),mother’s height(OR=1.706,95% CI: 1.347~2.160),mother suffering from inflammation of uterine appendages(OR=2.515,95% CI: 1.122~5.642),weight gain during pregnancy(OR=2.266,95% CI: 1.778~2.889),pregnancy induced hyperte nsion(OR=2.270,95% CI: 1.374~3.751),premature infants(OR=2.080,95% CI: 1.353~3.197),neonatal asphyxia(OR=2.505,95% CI: 1.230~5.100),The degree of anorex ia(OR=1.287,95% CI: 1.084-1.529)are risk factors for idiopathic short stature;Breas tfeeding(OR=0.509,95% CI: 0.325-0.795)is a protective factor for the occurrence of idiopathic short stature in children. Conclusions: 1.Father’s height, mother’s height, and mother’s inflammation of ut erine appendages are risk factors for idiopathic short stature.2.Weight gain during pregnancy, and gestational hypertension are risk factors for idiopathic short stature.3.Premature infants, neonatal asphyxia, and poor appetite are risk factors for idio pathic short stature.Breastfeeding is a protective factor for children with idiopathic sh ort stature.
