| Objective:The article aims to analyze the clinical characteristics of 106 patients with multiple sclerosis from Shanxi Province, deepening the understanding of multiple sclerosis and providing epidemiological data.Besides,we aim to explore the prognosis and influential factors of multiple sclerosis,in order to identify early high-risk groups with multiple sclerosis disability progression and improve clinical experience and social benefits of multiple sclerosis patients. Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 106 hospitalized patients with multiple sclerosis who visited the Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from January 1,2014 to October 31,2022,and their clinical characteristics were analyzed in terms of demographics, clinical symptoms, magnetic resonance imaging, laboratory tests, treatment, and efficacy. We also used uni-variate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis to explore the factors affecting disability progression in multiple sclerosis patients. Results:In this study, multiple sclerosis patients are more likely to occur among young women, with the initial onset age concentrated in 18-40 years old and the average age of onset was35.12 years. The gender ratio of male to female is 1:2.12.About 13% of multiple sclerosis patients have predisposing factors for their first onset, and common predisposing factors include upper respiratory tract infections(4.72%)and tiredness(3.77%).Clinical symptoms often involve limb weakness(44.98%),limb numbness(34.95%)and visual impairment(18.86%).The most common sites of MRI imaging in patients are the corpus callosum(57.65%),the central half oval(46.23%)and the Cortex/Near Cortex(24.63%).The majority(95.28%)of MS patients have positive cerebrospinal fluid OB,the majority(93.60%)of patients have effective hormone therapy in the acute phase, and 97.44% of patients have effective disease modification therapy. The duration of disease, annual recurrence rate, annual recurrence rate within two years of onset, bladder rectal function involvement, and spinal cord involvement are risk factors for disability progression. Conclusion:The clinical characteristics of 106 patients with multiple sclerosis in Shanxi Province in this study are generally similar to those reported in China. The duration of disease, annual recurrence rate, annual recurrence rate within two years of onset, bladder rectal function involvement, and spinal cord involvement are risk factors for disability progression in patients with multiple sclerosis. |
