Objective:To investigate the correlation between systemic immune inflammatory index(SII)and disease activity of ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods:By using the retrospective research method,212 UC patients hospitalized in the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from June 2018 to June 2022,and 127 healthy people who were examined in the Health Management Center of the hospital during the same period, were included as the study subjects. The clinical data and laboratory biochemical examination results of UC patients at admission were collected, and the disease activity was evaluated with the modified Mayo score.SII was calculated according to the results of blood routine examination, and the correlation between SII and clinical indicators was analyzed by Spearman rank correlation test.ROC curve was used to evaluate the efficacy of SII in judging the disease activity and severity of UC.Results:Compared with healthy people, the level of SII in UC patients is higher, and there is a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.001).The level of SII in moderate UC group and severe UC group is significantly higher than that in clinical remission group and mild UC group, and the level of SII in severe UC group is significantly higher than that in moderate UC group(P<0.05).The wider the lesion range of UC patients, the higher their SII level(P<0.001).The results of correlation analysis showed that SII level is positively correlated with C-reactive protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the modified Mayo score(r=0.604、r=0.518、r=0.509,P<0.001),and negatively correlated with hemoglobin(r=﹣0.390,P<0.001).The results of ROC curve analysis show that the best cut-off value of SII for judging UC disease activity is 403.5,the sensitivity is 72.1%,the specificity is 62.1%,and the area under the curve(AUC)is 0.735.The best cutoff value for SII to judge severe UC is 638.9,the sensitivity is 77.5%,the specificity is68.6%,and the AUC is 0.786.Conclusion:The level of SII in the peripheral blood of UC patients is higher, which has a high efficacy in judging the disease activity and severity of UC,and this conclusion has a certain clinical application value.
