Purposes: By observing the effects of yoga intervention and yoga combined with strength training to intervene in knee functional decline,we analyzed the effects of the16-week exercise intervention on subjects’ physical condition, leg strength, balance, joint flexibility and subjective sexual evaluation, evaluated the effects of the two exercise intervention programs, and proposed the best exercise program for early prevention of knee functional decline.Method: Fifty-three experimental subjects, aged 35 to 50 years, who met the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided into three groups. The yoga group(n=21)implemented a yoga practice program, the yoga strength group(n=15)implemented a yoga combined with strength training program, and the control group(n=17)did not do any exercise intervention. The experimental period was 16 weeks, and the frequency of practice was 60 minutes three times a week. The indexes were measured before and after the experiment, and then the changes in the indexes were analyzed and compared. The measures included five items: body mass, strength, balance, flexibility and subjective evaluation.Result:1.Physical indices: the BMI of the yoga group decreased, and the difference was very significant compared with that before the experiment(P < 0.01);the BMI of the yoga strength group increased slightly, and the difference was not significant compared with that before the experiment(P > 0.05).The yoga group had a better weight reduction effect than the yoga strength group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).2.Strength indexes: quadriceps and biceps muscle strength of the left and right legs of the yoga group and the yoga strength group were increased, and the difference was very significant compared with that before the experiment(P < 0.01);the effect of muscle strength improvement of the yoga strength group was better than that of the yoga group, and it was statistically significant(P < 0.05).The yoga group and the yoga strength group both had a significant increase in squatting time against the wall, and the difference was very significant compared to the pre-experimental period(P < 0.01);the yoga strength group had a better effect than the yoga group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).3.Balance index: the time of standing on one leg with eyes closed was improved in the yoga group and the yoga strength group, and the difference was very significant compared with that before the experiment(P < 0.01).The effect of the yoga strength group was better than that of the yoga group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).4.Flexibility indexes: the active flexion angle of the left and right legs, the internal rotation angle of the knee joint, and the external rotation angle of the knee joint were improved in the yoga group and the yoga strength group, and most of the indexes differed very significantly(P < 0.01)compared with those before the experiment, and a few indexes had significant differences(P < 0.05).The yoga strength group improved slightly better than the yoga group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).5.Subjective evaluation index: the Lysholm scores of the yoga group and the yoga strength group improved, and the difference was highly significant compared to the pre-experimental period(P < 0.01).The yoga strength group improved better than the yoga group, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).Conclusion:1.After 16 weeks of yoga practice and strength training combined with yoga, the lower limb muscle strength, body balance and joint flexibility of the subjects were significantly improved, and the knee function and daily activities of the subjects were significantly improved.2.Yoga intervention is helpful for the early prevention of knee functional decline, and helps to improve knee stability and joint flexibility.3.Yoga combined with strength training intervention is helpful to the early prevention of knee functional decline, especially to enhance the strength of lower limb muscles and prevent sports injuries.4.For the decline of knee joint function, the intervention effect of "yoga combined with strength training" is better than that of simple yoga exercise. This provides new ideas and countermeasures for better use of yoga,a healthy and safe mass physical exercise way,to prevent and delay the functional decline of knee joint brought about by age,and to improve the quality of life of patients with osteoarthritis.
