ObjectiveThis study explored the efficacy of anal lift exercise guided by standard theory in the prevention of postoperative low anterior resection syndrome(LARS)in elderly patients with ileostomy,in order to find the best way to improve the anorectal function of patients after the operation, reduce the incidence of LARS,reduce the severity of LARS and improve the quality of life of patients.MethodsElderly patients with ileostomy in gastrointestinal surgery department of a Class III hospital in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region from January 2022 to October 2022 were selected by convenience sampling method as research objects.74 patients with low rectal cancer who were to receive laparoscopic radical resection of rectal cancer + terminal ileal preventive ostomy were randomly divided into intervention group(37 cases)and control group(37 cases)by random number table. The control group received routine nursing and anal lifting exercise, and the intervention group received anal lifting exercise guided by standard theory for 3 months. The patients’ anorectal function, incidence, severity of low anterior resection syndrome, quality of life and compliance with anal lifting exercise were evaluated before and after the intervention using the low anterior resection syndrome scale, the Xu Zhong method five-item 10-point scale of anorectal function, the European Organization for Quality of Cancer Research’s special quality of life questionnaire for colorectal cancer and the pelvic floor muscle exercise compliance questionnaire, and the differences between the two groups were compared.Results(1)Comparison of general data: there was no significant difference in general data between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05),indicating comparability.(2)Comparison of compliance score and level distribution of anal lifting exercise: after intervention, compliance score of the intervention group was higher than that of the control group, and the level distribution was better than that of the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).(3)Comparison of LARS scores: after intervention, the total LARS score and scores of each item in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).(4)Grading comparison of anal function: there was no significant difference in anal function between the two groups before intervention(P>0.05);After intervention, the anal function of the intervention group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(5)Grading comparison of the occurrence and severity of LARS: after intervention, the incidence and severity of LARS in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).(6)Comparison of quality of life: there was no statistical significance in scores of quality of life before intervention between the two groups(P>0.05);after the intervention, the intervention group was better than the control group in functional areas of anxiety and symptoms of frequent urination, stool frequency, abdominal distension, blood and mucus in the stool, exhaust incontinence, defecation incontinence, skin damage and other aspects, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionAnal lifting exercise based on the standard theory can effectively prevent the occurrence of LARS after the operation of ileostomy in elderly patients, and has a certain promoting effect on restoring the anorectal function of patients after operation of ileostomy, reducing the severity of LARS,and improving the life quality of patients after operation of ileostomy.
