Objective This study aimd at reconnoitring the recent efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave combined with lower limb muscle chain training in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis and provide a new scheme for clinical treatment of knee osteoarthritis. Methods 81 patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis in the orthopaedic outpatient department of Baotou Central Hospital from the 10 th month of 2021 to the 10 th month of2022 were choosen. This study stochasticly divided those sufferers into three subsets, respectively shock wave subset, muscle chain subset and united treatment subset, with 27 cases in each subset.Basic data of patients(gender, age, course of disease, body mass index, knee type,K-L(Kellgren Lawrence)score)were collected. The shock wave group received shock wave therapy once a week for 4 consecutive weeks; The muscle chain group received lower limb muscle chain training once a day for 4 weeks. The joint group combines the above two methods. The Numerical rating scale(NRS),the Western Ontario and Mc Master Universities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)and Range of motion(ROM)were collected before treatment,1 week and 4 weeks after treatment to assess the patients’ pain and joint function. In addition,at the 4th week after treatment, each subset of patients was evaluated on the basis of the Measurement for the Efficacy of Orthopedic Diseases. All data were statistically analyzed with SPSS 26.0,and P<0.05 indicates that the difference is statistically significant. Results There was no significant difference in basic data and points ahead of remedy(P>0.05);Compared the 4th week after remedy with the original status,NRS and WOMAC points in shock wave subset declined remarkably(P<0.05),but ROM had no significant difference(P>0.05);NRS,WOMAC score and ROM in muscle chain group were significantly improved before and 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.05);NRS,WOMAC score and ROM of the combined group were significantly improved before and 4 weeks after treatment(P<0.05);Compared with the shockwave group and muscle chain group, the differences of combined group on NRS score,WOMAC score and ROM before treatment and the 1st week after treatment were significantly different(P<0.05),and those before treatment and the 4th week after treatment were also significantly different(P<0.05).The combined subset’s significant effect-cure rate was 96.30%,and its cure rate was 33.33%.Compared with the united subset, neither shock wave subset nor muscle chain subset had significant difference in significant effect-cure rate(P>0.05),but the cure rate of the united subset was significantly improved than others(P<0.05).Conclusion Both extracorporeal shock wave training and lower limb muscle chain training are effective methods for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, and the combination of the two has a more significant effect.
