Background: Diarrhea irritable bowel syndrome is a common type of irritable bowel syndrome,which is characterized by repeated attacks and difficult to cure,resulting in increased economic burden and seriously affecting the quality of life of patients.Objective: The case-control study aimed to identify the effects of Clostridium butyricum triple viable(CBTV)on symptoms,quality of life improvement,and influence of intestinal environment with diarrheal irritable bowel syndrome(IBS-D)patients.Methods: 47 patients were screened for IBS-D at Luohu District People’s Hospital and assigned to A group(given Xianglian tablets)or B group(given Xianglian tablets and CBTV)for 4 weeks.Symptom severity assessment form(IBS-SSS)and quality of life assessment form(IBS-QOL)were used to analyze the symptoms and quality of life improvement of the patients.Stool samples were collected before and 4 weeks after treatment,and the defecation habits and stool traits were evaluated by Bristol stool traits control table.The composition and structural characteristics of fecal flora were analyzed by 16 Sr RNA sequencing.Results: A total of 47 IBS-D patients were included in the study,23 patients treated with Xianglian tablet(A group)and 24 patients treated with Clostridium butyricum combined with Xianglian tablet(B group).(1)There was no difference in age,sex,BMI,quality of life score(IBS-QOL score)and symptom severity evaluation(IBS-SSS total score)between the two groups.According to statistical analysis,all patients had no feedback on adverse events related to diet or supplements,and there were no serious adverse events.(2)After four weeks of treatment,there was no significant difference in IBS-SSS scores between the two groups(A group: 159.1 ±42.4vs B group: 150.8 ±34.8,P=0.422),but the total IBS-QOL score of B group after treatment was significantly higher than that of A group(A group: 86.2 ±26.2 vs B group: 89.7 ±40.7,P < 0.01).It is suggested that the quality of life of the patients treated with Clostridium butyricum triple live bacteria tablets combined with Xianglian tablets is more significant,especially the remission rate of anorexia and body image is significantly higher than A group.(P < 0.05).(3)In terms of the characteristics of intestinal flora,there were significant differences in the genera level between the two groups after treatment.The numbers of Pseudonocardia,Veillonella,Corynebacterium and Megamanos in B group were significantly less than those in A group,and these bacteria could cause intestinal inflammation.Conclusion: In this case-control study,adjuvant therapy with Clostridium butyricum triple live tablets could improve the quality of life and reduce the growth of inflammatory bacteria in the intestines of patients with IBS-D.This provides data support for clinical decision-making of treatment plan.Figure [6],Table [3],Reference [62]...
