| Objective: To explore the impact of occupational plateau and psychological capital on occupational burnout among nurses in Haikou’s Tertiary Class A general Hospital.Method: A mixed study was used.The quantitative study adopted a stratified random cluster sampling method.From October to December2022,1100 nurses from 5tertiary and Tertiary Class A general Hospital in Haikou City were selected as the survey subjects.A cross-sectional survey was conducted using the General Information Questionnaire,Occupational Plateau Questionnaire,Psychological Capital Questionnaire,and Occupational Burnout Scale.SPSS 26.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data,and SPSS plug-in Process was used to analyze the mesomeric effect.Qualitative research adopts purposive samp ling method,conducting semi-structured interviews with15 nurses,and using topic analysis method to organize,analyze,and extract the interview data.Result: 1.Quantitative research results:(1)The occupational plateau score of nurses in Haikou Third Class A General Hospital is(52.38 ± 8.41)points,the psychological capital score is(85.46 ± 10.52)points,and the occupational burnout score is(64.74 ± 11.32)points;(2)Single factor analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences(P<0.05)in the occupational plateau scores of nurses in Haikou Third Class A general hospitals with different genders,ages,educational levels,professional titles,working years,monthly income,and further education and learning status;The comparison of psychological capital scores of nurses in Haikou Third Class A general hospitals with different age,education level,professional title,working years,marital status,monthly income,and further education and learning status showed statistical significance(P<0.05);There was a statistically significant difference in the occupational burnout scores of nurses in Haikou Third Class A general hospitals with different ages,professional titles,years of work,marital status,number of children,and monthly income(P<0.05);(3)Correlation analysis shows that there is a positive correlation between occupational plateau and job burnout among nurses in Haikou’s Third Class A general hospitals(r=0.428,P<0.01),a negative correlation between psychological capital and job burnout(r=-0.489,P<0.01),and a negative correlation between occupational plateau and psychological capital(r=-0.531,P<0.01).Psychological capital plays a part of mediating role between occupational plateau and job burnout of nurses in Haikou Third Class A general hospitals,and the mesomeric effect is 0.254,accounting for 40.70% of the total effect.2.Qualitative research results: Through analysis and summary,three themes and 10 sub themes were extracted,including insufficient support resources,heavy occupational burden,and obstacles to self-worth realization,including insufficient salary and welfare benefits,insufficient family support,insufficient social recognition,high occupational risk,high psychological pressure,excessive physical activity,low personal achievement,feeling hopeless for promotion,and being confused about future career planning There are few opportunities for learning and training.Conclusion: There is a correlation between occupational plateau,psychological capital,and job burnout among nurses in Haikou’s Third Class A general hospitals.Occupational plateau not only directly affects job burnout,but also indirectly affects job burnout through psychological capital.Improving the level of psychological capital can help nurses at a high altitude quickly step out of their career plateau and alleviate the impact on job burnout. |
