Objective: This trial was conducted to provide a empirical evidence for the application of internal organ massage therapy in the treatment of metabolic syndrome(phlegmdeficiency-stasis type)combined with mood disorders. Methods: Seventy-two patients with metabolic syndrome(phlegm turbidity and stagnation)combined with mood disorders who attended the Department of Tui-Na of the Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, with 36 patients in each group. The control group was given conventional treatment interventions, including drug interventions for MS components and healthy lifestyle education, while the treatment group was given visceral tui-na treatment once a day for 6 consecutive days with 1 day of rest, based on conventional treatment interventions, for a total of 4 treatment cycles. Before and after the treatment, the waist circumference(WC),waist-to-hip ratio(WHR),body mass index(BMI),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Milton Anxiety Inventory(HAMA)score,Brief Health Status Survey Scale(SF-36)and Chinese Medicine Evidence Score Scale were compared between the two groups for statistical analysis and objective evaluation. Results: At the end of the trial,4 cases were lost in the treatment group and 3 cases were lost in the control group, and the final number of valid cases was 65,and the results of the trial were as follows:(1)Analysis of differences in patient data before the trial: comparing the differences in gender,age,BMI,WC,WHR,HAMD,HAMA,SF-36(physical function, physical function, somatic pain, general health, vitality, social function, emotional function, mental health),and TCM evidence score between the two groups, the results showed no statistically significant differences between the groups for each index before treatment(P > 0.05)and were comparable.(2)Treatment results: After treatment,BMI,WC,HAMA score,HAMD score and TCM syndrome score of patients in both groups were lower than before treatment, and physical function, vitality and mental health were higher than before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P < 0.05).Somatic pain and social function scores increased in both groups after treatment, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05),and the difference between groups was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).In the treatment group,WHR decreased compared with that before treatment, and the scores of physical function, general health, vitality, and emotional function increased compared with that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the scores of somatic pain and social function increased compared with that before treatment, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).In the control group,WHR decreased compared with before, and physical function, somatic pain, general health, social function, and emotional function scores increased compared with before, but the difference was not statistically significant(P > 0.05).The comparison between groups showed that the treatment group was better than the control group in lowering WC,HAMA score,HAMD score,Chinese medicine evidence score, and improving overall health, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).(3)The total effective rate of HAMD in the treatment group was 46.88%,while that in the control group was 27.27%,with P<0.05 for the comparison between groups;the total effective rate of HAMA in the treatment group was 71.88%,while that in the control group was 39.39%,with P<0.05 for the comparison between groups;the total effective rate of TCM symptom score in the treatment group was 75.00%,while that in the control group was 66.66%,with P<0.05 for the comparison between groups. It was suggested that the treatment group had better efficacy in depression, anxiety and TCM symptoms compared with the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P < 0.05).(4)The patients had no uncomfortable symptoms and adverse reactions during and after the treatment course, and their vital signs were not abnormal.Conclusion:(1)The internal organs massage technique is an effective treatment method for metabolic syndrome(phlegm and stagnation type)combined with mood disorder, which can effectively improve the patient’s emotional anxiety state and metabolic level and improve the quality of life.(2)After the treatment of this group of cases,no significant side effects and adverse reactions were found, and it is a promising treatment method with high safety. |
