The Ming dynasty was the heyday of the development of health preserving science.A large number of health preservation works were published,leaving a rich legacy.As a great master of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),Li Shizhen’s works Compendium of Materia Medica and the examination of the eight Meridians of Strange Classics contain rich thought of health preservation,while Taoism plays an indispensable role in Li Shizhen’s thoughts on health preservation,this point has been almost ignored by the academic community,so this article is divided into six chapters to study the integrity of TCM and Taoism in Li Shizhen’s thought of health preservation.The first chapter discusses the origin and significance of the subject selection of the integration of medicine and Taoism of Li Shizhen’s thought of keeping in good health,and sorts out the research on the thought of keeping in good health of Li Shizhen’s works,nowadays,there are not many systematic discussions and deep excavations of Li Shizhen’s thoughts on health preservation,especially concerning the Taoist thoughts on health preservation,whether on the cultural or practical level,this selected topic all has the bigger value and the significance.The second chapter mainly discusses the relationship between Li Shizhen and Taoism from his life experience and medical works.Li Shizhen’s childhood and his youth were in Jiajing period,It is an indisputable fact that Jiajing worshiped Taoism,and under this political background,Li Shizhen was deeply influenced by Taoist culture and reflected in his life and medical works.The third chapter is about Li Shizhen’s basic theoretical principles of health,including six aspects: harmony with nature,both physical and mental cultivation,dialectical nutrition,preservation of essence and love of Qi,Diet Law,guide the line of Qi.The fourth chapter is Li Shizhen’s method of health preservation,including three parts: diet regimen,medicine regimen and internal training regimen.The fifth chapter demonstrates the integrity of TCM and Taoism in Li Shizhen’s thought of health preservation.In the basic principles of the theory of following nature comes down in a continuous line with Laozi’s thought of natural law,and Lao-Zhuang’s dialectical method has also been incorporated into the basic theoretical principles of Li Shizhen’s health-preserving thought,and the systematic spirit-qi-shen theory is the first concept of Taoism,guidance and move of Qi is valued by Taoism and carried forward in Taoism.In the aspect of drug regimen,Li Shizhen used Taoist terms to interpret and evidence the herb,critically inherited the Taoist method of Fushi,and absorbed Taoist inner alchemy,Meanwhile inspired by this,he wrote the book "the examination of the eight Meridians",which opened up a new field of pulse science,At the same time,the new TCM theories of "brain is the house of Yuan Shen","nose is the key to Mingmen" and " Mingmen between kidneys" are put forward,which promote the development of health preservation medicine.It can be said that Taoism played a leading role in the formation of Li Shizhen’s health preservation thought.In the sixth chapter,the problem of TCM Education in colleges and universities is induced by the integration of TCM and Taoism of Li Shizhen’s health preserving thought.It has become a common phenomenon that deviating from the TCM and attaching importance to modern medicine rather than Taoism,as the main body of Chinese culture,the Taoist culture is wiped out,based on which the reform measures of integrate traditional medicine with Taoism are put forward.
