Effect Of Nourishing Yin And Generating Fluid Therapy On Aqueous Tear Deficiency Of Dry Eye Disease

Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of nourishing yin and generating fluid therapy in the treatment of aqueous tear deficiency of Dry Eye disease through oral administration of Tailor-made Zhibai Dihuang Decoction.Methods:In this study,72 patients(144 eyes)diagnosed as aqueous tear deficiency of dry eye disease were selected from the ophthalmic clinic of Yunnan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from November 1st,2021 to November 30th,2022.Patients were divided into treatment group and control group with 36 patients(72 eyes)in a 1:1 ratio by random number table method.Control group was given 0.3%sodium hyaluronate eye drops,and treatment group was orally combined with tailor-made Zhibai Dihuang decoction on the basis of control group.10 days for a course of treatment,a total of 3 courses.TCM syndrome score,OSDI score,BUT,FL score,SIt,effective rate and safety index were observed and compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results:In this study,2 patients dropped out in the treatment group and 2 patients were removed in the control group,and a total of 68 cases(136 eyes)were included in the final analysis.Upon examination,there were no significant differences in gender and age between the two groups(all P>0.05).There were no significant differences in severity of disease,TCM syndrome score,OSDI score,BUT,FL score and SIt between the two groups before treatment(all P>0.05).After treatment,the TCM syndrome score,OSDI score,BUT,FL score and SIt in both groups were improved compared with before treatment(all P<0.05),and all the improvements in the treatment group were significantly better than that in the control group(all P<0.05).The total effective rate of the treatment group(88.23%)was higher than that of the control group(70.59%)(X~2=8.527,P=0.014<0.05).Conclusions:1.Both tailor-made Zhibai Dihuang Decoction and 0.3%sodium hyaluronate eye drops have significant clinical efficacy in patients with aqueous tear deficiency of dry eye disease.2.Oral administration of Tailor-made Zhibai Dihuang Decoction can significantly improve OSDI score and TCM syndrome,and improve patients’self-perceived symptoms,increase tear secretion,prolong tear break-up time,promote corneal epithelial repair.The effect is significantly better than 0.3%sodium hyaluronate eye drops alone.3.No adverse reactions such as abnormal liver and kidney function were found in all subjects in this study.Tailor-made Zhibai Dihuang Decoction and 0.3%sodium hyaluronate eye drops have good safety.
