The advent of the information age has not only greatly changed the way people obtain information,but also shaped a new form of communication based on the Internet: "word media".Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic,a large number of related word media have emerged,and they have shown strong communication power and influence in public opinion.We take the word media in the COVID-19 pandemic as the research object,reveal the process of its generation,dissemination and meaning change,and discuss its society culture content.Firstly,on the basis of clarifying the connotation and characteristics of "word media",we use the octopus collector to collect the proposed word media entries,and summary and classify them.Secondly,the generation process of epidemic-related media is analyzed,the influencing factors are summarized,and the five diachronic stages of its birth,secondary editing,intense discussion,opinion leader generation,and consensus are analyzed separately.Thirdly,the topological map analysis method is used to draw the communication process and mode of word media,explain the various characteristics and activation ranges of word media in the communication process,analyze its four communication modes and explore its transmission mechanism.Finally,taking the different word media content in the new COVID-19 epidemic as a case,we analyze the changes of its meaning in the process of communication,and discuss the society cultural significance of word media.The results show that the refinement and generalization performance of word media enable people to quickly grasp the core issues in public opinion events,which conforms to the fast-paced information acquisition habits of people in the information age and meets the demands of the media for accurate dissemination of information symbols.In addition,the change of the content of the word media in the process of communication requires the mainstream media and opinion leaders to make rapid response and timely regulation,guide the word media to be more rational and reflect positive meaning,and promote public opinion supervision and social governance.
