Objective: With the aging of the national population, the population with presbycusis is increasing. As common diseases among elderly population, presbycusis and primary hypertension may cause disorder in daily life and lower life quality. The objective of this study is to explore the influence of primary hypertension control level on presbycusis. Methods: Patients between the age of 60 to 74 who were diagnosed with presbycusis by hearing tests and assessment at the department of Otorhinolaryngology of CMU Shengjing hospital from May 2021 to January 2022 are collected. After collecting medical history and conducting physical examination of ears and hearing tests,we collect those who fit the inclusive standard but don’t fit the exclusive standard into the research. At the day of being included in the research, patients are divided into two groups:primary hypertension group and non-hypertension group according to be with or without primary hypertension, and patients in the hypertension group are given medicines according to the standard treatment plan conducted by cardiovascular physicians and they are followed up for a year.According to the level of blood pressure control, patients in the primary hypertension group are divided into 2 groups: good primary-hypertension-control group(with an average blood pressure lower than130/80 mm Hg)and bad primary-hypertension-control group(with an average blood pressure at or over 130/80 mm Hg).At the day of being included in the research and 1 year later, hearing tests are conducted to assess hearing loss. Then all patients are divided into3 groups: non-hypertension group, good primary-hypertension-control group and bad primary-hypertension-control group. The relationship between hearing threshold increase and level of hypertension control is discussed.IBM SPSS Statistics software is used for statistical analysis. Results: After checking by inclusive and exclusive standard, there were 78 patients included, and among them 17 patients missed follow-up and 2 patients were diagnosed with diabetes and 1 patient was diagnosed with middle ear disease during the follow-up.Finally 58 patients are included. Each group is consisted as follow: 20 patients in good primary-hypertension-control group, including 1 patient with increasing threshold(5.0%)and 19 patients with non-increasing threshold(95.0%);18 patients in bad primary-hypertension-control group, including 10 patients with increasing threshold(55.6%)and 8 patients with non-increasing threshold(44.4%).20 patients in non-hypertension group, including 3 patients with increasing threshold(15.0%)and 17 patients with non-increasing threshold(85.0%).The difference between the rates of threshold increase of the good primary-hypertension-control group and bad primary-hypertension-control group is statistically significant(P’=0.001<0.0167);The difference between the rates of threshold increase of bad primary-hypertension-control group and non-hypertension group is statistically significant(P’=0.016 < 0.0167);The difference between the rates of threshold increase of the good primary-hypertension-control group and non-hypertension group is not statistically significant(P’=0.598 > 0.0167).All patients are divided into two groups: increasing threshold(n=14)and non-increasing threshold(n=44).The difference of different gender, age, level of hearing loss when included is not statistically significant(P>0.05).Patients with primary hypertension are divided into 2 groups: increasing threshold(n=11)and non-increasing threshold(n=27).The difference of different blood pressure classification of primary hypertension is not statistically significant(P=1.000 > 0.05).Comparing non-hypertension with bad primary-hypertension-control,the OR of threshold increase is0.141(95%CI=0.030-0.658)and is statistically significant(P=0.013 < 0.05).Comparing good primary-hypertension-control with bad hypertension-control,the OR of threshold increase is 0.042(95%CI=0.005-0.386)and is statistically significant(P=0.005<0.05).Conclusion: Primary hypertension affects the progress of hearing loss of presbycusis. For patients of presbycusis with primary hypertension, good control of hypertension might slower the progress of hearing loss of presbycusis.
