Object:This study examines the current situation regarding the quality of life of patients with primary dryness syndrome and explores the factors that influence the quality of life of patients with primary dryness syndrome in order to provide clinical professionals with a basis for treating the symptoms of patients with primary dryness syndrome and improving the quality of life of patients. Methods: In this study,207 consecutive patients with primary dry syndrome who attended the rheumatology ward of the First Hospital of China Medical University from October 2021 to November 2022 were selected for the study using a cross-sectional survey method and convenience sampling according to the nadir criteria.Questionnaires were administered by completing the General Information Questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Brief Health Status Questionnaire, the Chinese version of the Fatigue Profile Scale, the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index Questionnaire, the General Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the Dry Syndrome Disease Activity Index. The data were analysed using SPSS 25.0 software, with normally distributed values expressed as mean±standard deviation((?)±s),non-normally distributed values expressed as median(interquartile range)[M(P25,P75)],counts expressed as frequencies and composition coefficients, and multiple group comparisons using the Kruskal test.To analyse the association between quality of life and fatigue profile, sleep quality index, anxiety and depression scores and disease activity in patients with primary dry syndrome, the Wallis rank sum test with Spearman correlation was used. The factors influencing the quality of life of patients with primary dry syndrome were analyzed by multiple linear regression using the quality of life score as the dependent variable and age, disease duration, occupation, pain, dry mouth, dry eyes, vaginal dryness, anxiety and depression, fatigue, disease activity, and sleep index as independent variables.P < 0.05 indicates that the difference is statistically significant.Result: The overall quality of life score for primary dry syndrome was(67.43 ± 15.18),which is low compared to the population of nine Chinese provinces and cities. The dimension of social functioning scored the highest(92.05 ± 15.90)and that of general health the lowest(53.22 ± 10.18).Univariate analysis of quality of life showed that quality of life was associated with occupation, disease duration, age, pain, dry mouth, dry eyes, vaginal dryness, fatigue, anxiety, depression, sleep index and disease activity, with statistically significant differences(P < 0.05).Multivariate analysis of quality of life showed that fatigue, pain, disease activity, dry eye, anxiety and depression were included in the regression analysis, suggesting that the mentioned variables are influential factors of quality of life in primary dry syndrome, explaining a total of 63.4% of the variance. Conclusion: Patients with primary dry syndrome have lower overall quality of life scores than healthy individuals, including lower dimensions of physical functioning, physical functioning, general health, emotional functioning and mental health;dry eye, pain, fatigue, anxiety and depression, and ESSDAI are factors affecting the quality of life of patients with primary dry syndrome. This study provides a theoretical basis for the management of patients with primary dryness syndrome and suggests that health professionals improve symptom management and focus on psychological interventions to provide a theoretical basis for improving patients’ quality of life. |
