Since the establishment of the national basic medical insurance system, after years of reform and development,it has been characterized by the gradual expansion of insurance coverage and the gradual increase of welfare. At present, the overall coverage rate of basic medical insurance has reached 95%,but for some special groups,it is difficult to participate in basic medical insurance both at the insurance stage and the reimbursement stage. Most of the flexible employees have not signed a labor contract, they can only participate in the basic medical insurance in the form of individuals without carriers when participating in the insurance, which is easy to cause serious information asymmetry and adverse selection problems, and the flexible employees have the characteristics of unstable employment, long working hours, low income, etc.Compared with the regular employees, they are more likely to have health problems and are difficult to bear higher medical service costs,Therefore, the question of whether the basic medical insurance system can provide basic medical insurance for flexible employees and thus improve their health level is more worthy of attention.Based on the above background, this paper takes flexible employees as the research object, and analyzes the impact of the basic medical insurance system on the health level of this group through theoretical and empirical methods. This paper analyzes the impact of the basic medical insurance system on the health level of the flexible employees at the theoretical level by combining the labor market segmentation theory,Anderson health service utilization model and Grossman health demand model.According to the research hypothesis, this paper selects the CFPS2020 database for empirical analysis, takes the "self rated health level" as the explained variable, and uses the orderly probit model for regression analysis to explore whether the participation of basic medical insurance can promote the health level of flexible employees. In addition to the basic regression, this paper will group the sample of flexible employees according to their age and income level, analyze the heterogeneity of the basic medical insurance system in promoting the health of flexible employees, and build an intermediary effect model to explore the role of basic medical insurance in affecting the health level of flexible employees. The empirical results show that basic medical insurance has a positive effect on the health level of flexible employees, and this effect does show heterogeneity among flexible employment groups with different incomes and different ages.Basic medical insurance can affect the health level of flexible employees by affecting the use of medical services and personal health behavior.Based on the research results, this paper puts forward targeted suggestions.
