Objective:To compare and analyse mandibular fossa morphology between Han and Uyghur adults aged 18 to 65 years in Urumqi..Methods:According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,CBCT imaging data were accurately screened from the image database, with a total of 213 cases.Among them, including 107 Han Chinese,54 male, and 53 female. There are 106 Uighurs,52 males and 54 females. For each sample, the included software was used to measure the depth, foveal distance, and tubular ridge distance of the submandibular fossa, calculate the distance difference between the foveal and tubular ridge distances, record and count all values, and finally conduct statistical analysis. Results:By measuring the anatomical landmarks related to the submandibular fossa in 213 patients from two ethnic groups,it was found that: 1.The proportion of the concave point of the submandibular gland fossa located below the upper edge of the mandibular nerve tube was the highest in both ethnic groups, followed by the concave point of the submandibular gland fossa located above the upper edge of the mandibular nerve tube, and the lowest was that they were flat.2 The distance between the concave apex and the cristae in the Han population is greater than that in the Uyghur population,P<0.05,and there is statistical significance between the two.3 The depth of submandibular gland fossa had no statistical significance in nationality and gender,P>0.05.4 The female foveal distance is 15.77 ± 2.30 mm,while the male foveal distance is 17.23± 2.76 mm.The female foveal distance is smaller than the male foveal distance, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).5 There was no statistically significant difference in the distance between the cristae and the canal in terms of gender,P>0.05.Conclusion:The position of the most concave point of the submandibular gland fossa and the top edge of the mandibular nerve tube in Han adults is lower than that in Uygur adults, and the concave top distance in both Han and Uygur adults is greater in men than in women.
