Objective:To explore the relationship between Musashi2(MSI2)gene polymorphism and schizophrenia in Chinese Uyghur population. Methods:A case-control study was used to select Xinjiang Uyghur population as the study object.441 schizophrenic patients were included in the case group, and 436 healthy Uyghur patients were included in the control group.Clinical data and blood samples of the subjects were collected, genomic DNA was extracted, and MSI2 gene was genotyped with Illumina sequencer.SPSS25.0 software was used to analyze gene frequency, genotype frequency, disease severity and age of onset.Results:(1)The rs11657292 locus of MSI2 gene in the case group(P=0.147)and the control group(P=0.085)conformed to Hardy-Weinberg’s law of genetic balance.(2)The difference of gene frequency between the two groups was statistically significant(χ~2=9.80,P=0.002,OR=0.617,CI:0.455-0.836)(3)The difference of genotype frequency between the two groups was statistically significant(χ~2=9.89,P=0.007,P<0.05).(4)In the additive model, individuals carrying TC genotype had schizophrenia 1.666 times that of TT genotype(OR=1.666,95%CI:1.170~2.372);Individuals carrying CC genotype were not associated with susceptibility to schizophrenia(OR=2.041,95%CI:0.805~5.176);The risk of schizophrenia in individuals carrying TC+CC genotype in the dominant model was 1.704times that of TT genotype(OR=1.704,95%CI:1.217~2.387);Individuals carrying CC genotype in the recessive model were not associated with schizophrenia susceptibility(OR=1.861,95%CI:0.736~4.711);(5)There was no significant difference in the severity of the disease between the two groups of schizophrenia(F=1.285,P=0.278,P>0.05).(6)There was no significant difference between the onset age of schizophrenia and the MSI2 gene rs11657292(F=1.518,P=0.220,P>0.05).Conclusion:The rs11657292 locus of MSI2 gene may be related to the onset of schizophrenia in Chinese Uyghur population.
