ObjectiveThis study aims to explore the clinical feasibility of using the dragon-tiger fighting acupuncture technique to treat tension-type headaches. The study analyzes standardized VAS scores,TCM syndrome scores, headache scores,HAMA scores, and HAMD scores before and after treatment,in order to provide a new, safe and effective treatment method for tension-type headaches.Date and methodsThe study selected 40 patients with tension-type headaches who met the diagnostic and inclusion criteria in the acupuncture department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese Medicine, and used a random number table to randomly allocate them into two groups: a treatment group and a control group, with 20 patients in each group. Both groups received acupuncture at Baihui,Fengchi(both sides),Taiyang(both sides),Hegu(both sides),Taichong(both sides),Waiguan(both sides),Shuaigu(both sides),and Ashi points. The control group received conventional acupuncture treatment, while the treatment group received the dragon-tiger fighting acupuncture technique. The treatment was observed for efficacy with 6 treatments per week,1 day of rest, and a total of 4 weeks of treatment. The VAS score, headache score,TCM syndrome score,HAMA score,HAMD score, and efficacy index were recorded before and after treatment for both groups.Clinical symptom improvement and efficacy were observed. The obtained data were statistically analyzed and compared using SPSS 22.0.Results1.Baseline data analysis: After statistical analysis, there were no significant differences(P>0.05)in the general information of the two groups of patients before treatment, including gender, age, course of disease,VAS score before treatment, headache score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,HAMA score, and HAMD score, indicating comparability.2.Comparison of the two groups of patients before and after treatment: Compared to before treatment, both groups showed a statistically significant decrease(P<0.01)in VAS score, headache score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,HAMA score, and HAMD score after treatment, with an overall effective rate of 97.5%.This indicates that both treatments can improve the intensity, frequency, associated symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, anxiety, and depression of tension-type headaches.3.Comparison between the two groups after treatment: Between-group comparison after treatment: Compared to the control group, the treatment group showed a statistically significant decrease(P<0.05)in VAS score, headache score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,HAMA score, and HAMD score.Additionally, compared to the control group, the treatment group showed a statistically significant increase(P<0.05)in the difference between pre-and post-treatment values for headache score, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score,HAMA score, and HAMD score. This indicates that the treatment group’s efficacy in improving the intensity, frequency, associated symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, and anxiety and depression levels of tension-type headaches was superior to that of the control group.4.The results of efficacy statistics showed that the treatment group’s efficacy index was significantly increased compared to the control group(P<0.05),with a total effective rate of100%.In contrast, the control group had a total effective rate of 95%.This indicates that the overall efficacy of the treatment group was superior to that of the control group.Conclusion1.Acupuncture treatment using the selected acupoints in this study was effective in improving the intensity, frequency, associated symptoms, traditional Chinese medicine syndrome, and anxiety and depression levels of tension-type headaches.2.The Dragon-tiger fighting acupuncture was able to better improve the intensity and associated symptoms of tension-type headaches,as well as the anxiety and depression levels of patients, while reducing the duration and frequency of attacks.3.The Dragon-tiger fighting acupuncture was able to better improve the traditional Chinese medicine syndrome of tension-type headache patients, alleviating their traditional Chinese medicine symptoms and signs. |
