"Menopausal syndrome",also known as "Various evidences before and after menopause",is a difficult and frequent disease in clinical gynecological, commonly seen in women aged 40 to 60 years old.Which is a series of clinical symptoms resulting from the imbalance of Yin and Yang, the disturbance of the function of internal organs before and after menopause.Clinical manifestations include hot sweats, irritability, hot flushes, insomnia and amnesia, mental lethargy, dizziness, tinnitus and palpitations, back pain, heat in the hands and feet, menstrual disorders and other symptoms associated with menopause. In this paper, the historical history of menopausal syndrome is the main line, and the literature research method and content analysis method are used to collect and organize the ancient literature on menopausal symptom,so as to explore the etiology and pathogenesis and the rules of treatment from the perspective of literature, with a view to providing a theoretical basis for the treatment of the disease in modern medicine. The research structure of this paper is divided into four parts, the first part is the introduction, including the concepts related to menopausal syndrome, modern research progress, the purpose and significance of the study, and the methods and contents of the study. The second part is the main part of the article, which is the compilation of ancient literature on menopausal syndrome. The author divides the disease into three stages in order of dynasties, the first stage being the pre-Qin to Tang period, the second stage being the Song,Jin,and Yuan periods, and the third stage being the Ming and Qing periods. It is mainly to sort out the content of the five types of symptoms in each period, namely,"atrophic debility of bones","insomnia","depression syndrome","senile metrorrhagia",and " sweating syndrome",which are closely related to menopausal syndrome. The third part is the discussion part of the article, which further analyzes the etiology and pathogenesis of menopausal syndrome and their historical evolution, and summarizes the historical evolution of treatment methods and therapeutic prescriptions for menopausal syndrome. The fourth part is the conclusion of this paper.By collating and analyzing the ancient literature on menopausal syndrome,we have found that: firstly, the name of this disease has not been documented in any ancient medical literature, and the knowledge of menopausal syndromes is scattered in Chinese medicine, such as "bulbus lilii syndrome" "hysteria" "insomnia" "depression syndrome" "atrophic debility of bones" "sweating syndrome" "palpitation" "senile metrorrhagia" and other disease areas.Secondly, the disease is attributed to the kidney, and kidney deficiency is the root cause of the disease. The imbalance of kidney yin and kidney yang in the body is caused by the influence of physique, emotions, productive and fertile, fequent sexual activity, disease, diet, iregular work and leisure, society and living environment.Subsequently,The balance of yin and yang of the liver, spleen and heart is also disrupted, and the disease is prolonged with mixed asthenia and sthenia.Third, the disease often involves multiple viscera and multiple pathogenesis, and there is still no unified standard for the identification and typing of the disease. The treatment of menopausal syndrome should focus on the four viscera: kidney, liver, heart, and spleen, while simultaneously taking into account the effects of real evil such as blood stasis and phlegm-dampness.It is worth noting that harmonizing Qi and Blood and emotional treatment have a significant role in the treatment of menopausal syndrome.
