| Objective: To compare the size, shape and incidence of sella turcica bridging in patients with different vertical growth patterns in skeletal class II malocclusion. Methods:A total of 118 patients with class II malocclusion(44 cases in hyperdivergent group,44 cases in normodivergent group and 30 cases in hypodivergent group)were selected to observe the size and shape of sella and the incidence of sella turcica bridging,as well as to determine the differences of sella size and shape and the incidence of sella turcica bridging in the three groups by cephalometric radiographs. Results: Significant differences between three groups were found for sella diameter,depth,length(P<0.05).There were statistically significant differences in sella diameter between genders in hyperdivergent group and sella length between genders in hypodivergent group(P<0.05),and there were statistically significant differences in sella shape between genders in the normodivergent group(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in other sella linear indexes between the sexes of the three groups,in the sella shape between the sexes of the hyperdivergent group and the hypodivergent group,in the sella shape between the three groups,in the incidence of sella turcica bridging of the three groups and in the incidence of sella turcica bridging between the sexes of the three groups(P > 0.05).Conclusion: There were significant differences in sella size between different vertical growth patterns, but there were no differences in sella shape and sella size of different vertical growth patterns. |
