Living Space Status And Influencing Factors In Elderly Patients With Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Objective: To investigate the living space status of elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD),analyze its influencing factors and mechanism of action,and provide reference for improving the living space level and nursing intervention in the later period,so as to promote the long-term management of elderly patients with COPD.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted to select 437 elderly COPD patients from the respiratory department of a third-class A hospital in Urumqi from January 2022 to August 2022 as the research objects.General data questionnaire,elderly living space evaluation scale,family function index questionnaire,mental toughness questionnaire and exercise self-efficacy questionnaire were used to investigate.SPSS 26.0software was used to analyze and process the data.Results: A total of 450 patients were investigated in this study,with 437 effective questionnaires and effective recovery rate of 97.1%.The total living space score of elderly COPD patients was(49.57±19.79),and the living space level was slightly limited.Univariate analysis showed that age,occupation type,marriage,education level,caregiver,number of chronic diseases,COPD course and m MRC had significant effects on the living space level of elderly COPD patients(P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that occupation,educational level,COPD course,family function,mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy were the main factors affecting the living space of elderly patients with COPD,which could explain43.2% of the total variation.The mediating effect results showed that the total indirect effect of mental toughness and sports self-efficacy on family function and living space was 0.972,accounting for 55.67% of the total effect.The total indirect action consists of three paths.Path 1: The mediating effect of mental toughness on family function and living space was 0.508,accounting for 29.10% of the total effect.Path 2: The mediating effect of exercise self-efficacy on family function and living space was 0.314,accounting for 17.98% of the total effect.Path 3: The chain mediating effect of mental toughness and sports self-efficacy on family function and living space was 0.150,accounting for 8.59%of the total effect.Conclusion: The living space of elderly patients with COPD is mildly limited.Occupation,educational level,COPD course,family function,mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy are the main factors affecting the living space of elderly patients with COPD.Family function can directly and positively predict the living space level of elderly COPD patients,and can also indirectly and positively predict the living space level of elderly COPD patients through mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy.Mental toughness and exercise self-efficacy play partial mediating roles between family function and living space level respectively.Medical staff should pay attention to the evaluation of living space,improve the mental toughness of patients,increase the exercise self-efficacy,and maximize the expansion of living space.
