| Objective:To study the efficacy and safety of the new technique of balloon compression-assised endoscopic injection sclerotherapy by comparing with endoscopic injection sclerotherapy. Methods: A total of 85 patients in the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University from June 2020 to November 2021 were enrolled, including 47 patients in the bc-EIS group and 38 patients were enrolled in the EIS group. The number of sessions for varicose vein eradication, the eradication rate of varicose veins, the rebleeding rate, the symptoms of intraoperative bleeding and hemostasis, the average amount of sclerosing agent, the average number of injection points and complications were compared between the two groups. Results: The average number of sessions to eradicate varicose veins in the bc-EIS group and the EIS group was 1.25 ± 0.60 and 3.21 ± 1.41,respectively,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).In bc-EIS group, the complete eradication rate of esophageal varices after one session was 82.98%(39/47),after two sessions was 91.49%(43/47),after three sessions was 100%(47/47),which was significantly higher than that in EIS group(10.53%,4/38;31.58%,12/38;63.16%,24/38;)The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).after 10 months of follow-up,the varicose vein eradication rate was 100.00%(47/47)in the bc-EIS group and 73.68%(28/38)in the EIS group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The rate of rebleeding at 10 months of postoperative follow-up was 2.13%(1/47)in the bc-EIS group and 18.42%(7/38)in the EIS group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).In addition, the average amount of sclerosing agent used for first session in the bc-EIS group was less than in the bc-EIS group(17.66±7.14 ml vs 22.92±6.84ml),and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).89.36%(42/47)of the patients in the bc-EIS group showed bleeding after intraoperative injection,10.64%(5/47)showed blood spraying, and 57.89%(22/38)and 42.11%(16/38)in the EIS group, respectively, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the average number of injection points between bc-EIS group and EIS group(2.70±0.86 vs 2.78±1.04,P>0.05).There were no serious complications in both groups. Conclusion: Compared with EIS,the average number of sessions for bc-EIS eradication of varicose veins was less, and the variceal eradication rate reached 100% after 3treatments;In addition, the bc-EIS group had a lower rate of postoperative rebleeding, rare intraoperative blood spraying/bleeding,less sclerosing agent, and significant clinical treatment effects. |
