Objective:Through the detection of Trimethylamine oxide(TMAO),red blood cell distribution width(RDW)and carotid atherosclerotic plaque, analyze the correlation between TMAO,RDW and carotid atherosclerotic plaque in elderly patients with hypertension.Methods:1.201 elderly hypertensive patients who were treated in the hospital from October 2021 to June 2022 were selected as research object.According to the presence of plaque by carotid ultrasound, the research object were divided into plaque group(n=103),and non-plaque group(n=98).2.Research data of 201 patients were collected:Age,gender, smoking, course of disease,BMI,blood glucose, total cholesterol,triglyceride,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, lipoprotein a,homocysteine, uric acid, red blood cell distribution width.Serum TMAO level was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.3.SPSS25.0 software was used for statistical processing. The measurement data of the normal distribution are represented by mean±standard deviation, and the independent sample t-test is used for inter-group comparison. The measurement data of non-positive distribution are represented by the M(P25-P75),and the comparison between the two groups were tested by Mann-Whitney U.The counting data is represented by example(%),and the chi-square test was used for comparison between groups. The correlation between TMAO,RDW and carotid atherosclerotic plaque was analyzed by point binary correlation. The risk factors of carotid atherosclerotic plaque were analyzed by logistic regression.P<0.05represents a statistically significant difference.Results:1.Comparison of general data and clinical data between the two groups1.1 General data comparison:In plaque group,Age(72.67±8.39)years old,56.3%of males,39.8%of smoking, course of disease[10(2-17)]years,homocysteine[12.9(11.0-17.3)]umol/L,LDL(2.87±0.89)mmol/L was higher than that of non-plaque group Age(65.85±6.31)years old,30.6%of males,24.5%of smoking, course of disease[3.5(1-10)]years,Homocysteine[12.7(10.6-13.6)]umol/L,LDL(2.56±0.85)mmol/L.The HDL in the plaque group(1.05±0.25)mmol/L was lower than that of the non-plaque group(1.18±0.26)mmol/L.There with a statistical difference(P<0.05).In the plaque group,BMI(25.74±3.63)kg/m~2,blood glucose[5.80(4.77-7.66)]mmol/L,total cholesterol(4.50±1.20)mmol/L,triglyceride(1.86±1.04)mmol/L,uric acid(301.03±97.63)umol/L,lipoprotein a[21.6(7.8-49.2)]umol/L compared with the BMI(25.6±2.88)kg/m~2,blood glucose[5.33(4.78-6.43)]mmol/L,total cholesterol(4.30±1.04)mmol/L,triglyceride(1.66±1.03)mmol/L,uric acid(292.38±81.21)umol/L,lipoprotein a[21.65(7.8-26.4)]umol/L in the non-plaque group. There were no statistical differences(P>0.05).1.2 Comparison of clinical indicators:TMAO(5.35±1.33)mg/dl and RDW(13.32±1.13)%in the plaque group were significantly higher than TMAO(3.77±1.07)mg/dl and RDW(12.11±0.79)%in the non-plaque group. The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Correlation analysis:The results of point binary correlation analysis showed that TMAO(r=0.547,P<0.001)and RDW(r=0.525,P<0.001)were positively correlated with carotid atherosclerotic plaque.3.Multivariate logistic regression analysis showsTaking the occurrence of carotid atherosclerotic plaque as the dependent variable, age, sex, smoking, course of disease,HDL-C,LDL-C,TMAO,RDW and homocysteine as the independent variables, using multivariate logistic regression analysis, after adjusting the age,sex,smoking,HDL-C,and LDL-C,the results showed that TMAO and RDW were independent risk factors for carotid atherosclerotic plaque. Conclusions:In elderly hypertensive patients:1.TMAO,RDW are positively correlated with carotid atherosclerotic plaque.2.TMAO and RDW may be independent risk factors for carotid atherosclerotic plaque.
