Objective By applying Jianpi Yangfei decoction to treat acute gastrointestinal injury(AGI)in critically ill ICU patients, the improvement of clinical symptoms was observed, and relevant laboratory tests and disease severity scores of patients before and after treatment were collected and analyzed. To study the comprehensive therapeutic effect of integrated Chinese and western medicine on ICU critically ill patients complicated with AGI and its application value in clinical practice.A theoretical foundation for treating ICU patients with acute gastrointestinal injury can be provided to be effective.MethodsA total of sixty patients were gathered, from January 2022 to January 2023.Randomly,30 cases were divided into two groups: the Western medicine treatment group with Jianpi Yangfei Decoction, and the Western medicine treatment control group, using a random number generator. The control group,in the course of their treatment, embraced traditional Western medicine, such as primary disease treatment,anti-infection,acid suppression, stomach defense, gastric mucosa protection, and organ function support, and so forth. The treatment team added splenic recuperation and Jianpi-Yangfei decoction to the basic western medical treatment, and the treatment lasted for a total of seven days.Inflammation-related indicators(HBP,WBC,NEU%,PCT,CRP),nutritional status indicators(hemoglobin, albumin, total albumin)and prognostic related indicators(SOFA score,APACHEⅡ score,Chinese medical symptom score, gastrointestinal function severity score).Results(1)Results revealed that infection indices such as HBP,WBC,NEUT%,PCT and CRP were all reduced in both groups after treatment, with the treatment group treated with integrated Chinese and Western medicine showing a more marked decrease than the control group only treated with Western medicine(P<0.05).(2)The results revealed that,in comparison to the control group treated with Western medicine alone, both groups experienced an increase in HB,ALB,PA and other nutritional status indices post-treatment.The treatment group receiving integrated Chinese and Western medicine saw a significantly greater rise(P<0.05).(3)The treatment caused a decrease in SOFA score,APACHEⅡ score,TCM symptom, gastrointestinal function severity and other prognostic indicators in both groups,as evidenced by the results. In comparison to the control group, the decrease was more pronounced in the treatment group that had been given both Chinese and Western medicine(P<0.05).(4)No considerable harm to the liver and kidney functioning was revealed by the results in the two groups after the treatment, and the treatment proved advantageous in restoring the liver and kidney function in both groups. However, only the decrease in AST showed a statistical difference(P<0.05).ConclusionThe results of this study showed that patients with AGI in ICU could significantly reduce the level of related inflammatory indicators, promote the recovery of gastrointestinal function, improve clinical symptoms and nutritional status of patients, and ultimately achieve the purpose of improving the quality of life of patients by combining the traditional Chinese medicine Jianpi and Yangfei Decoction on the basis of conventional treatment. This study proves that the treatment of integrated Chinese and western medicine shows greater advantages in the prevention and treatment of AGI,fully shows that the curative effect of traditional Chinese and western medicine in the treatment of AGI is exact, and the treatment of integrated Chinese and western medicine has broad application prospects.
