Development And Evaluation Of APP For Continuing Education Of Dermatology And Venereology

Objective: Dermatology is mainly an outpatient-based medicine;patients are treated in clinics rather than hospitalized.The outpatient waiting areas of dermatology clinics in provincial hospitals are always overcrowded.Most of the patients are not natives;they travel to provincial hospitals for their basic dermatological care.However,there are few patients in the dermatology clinic of some municipal hospitals and primary medical institutions.Such a phenomenon is mainly caused by the unreliable professional skills and lack of continuing education resources of basic-level practitioners.E-learning is a new education mode and has many advantages beyond the reach of traditional teaching,such as availability of learning materials at any time and place,resource sharing,real-time online communication,multimedia interaction and so on,which is more suitable for doctors.In sum,we plan to design a new mobile application of E-learning courses on the treatment of common skin diseases,improving basic diagnosis and treatment skills in dermatology of basic-level practitioners.Methods: We developed a mobile application called Xiangya DERM Cloud Classroom and then a questionnaire was designed to investigate the teaching effect,problems and user satisfaction of this software,and the data was statistically analyzed.Results: This software mainly includes three-level video courses,courseware,knowledge bank,test and communication platform,involving knowledge of common diseases in dermatology and venerology.After using this APP,the majority of respondents have achieved good learning results as well as improvement of the level of diagnosis and therapy of common diseases.Most respondents are satisfied with this APP and think it is easy to use.Video courses and courseware are the most popular part.More than one third of the respondents are inclined to choose this APP for continuing education of dermatology rather than lecture and textbook.Conclusions: Xiangya DERM Cloud Classroom application can effectively improve the level of knowledge,diagnosis and therapy of dermatological common diseases among doctors,which is an effective way of continuing education in dermatology.
