Preliminary Study On The Correlation Among Grip Strength, Wiring Gesture And Myopia In School-age Children

Objective:To preliminarily study whether there is the correlation between writing gesture and grip strength.And to analyze the differences in myopia and other aspects between children with correct and incorrect writing gesture.Methods:Cross sectional study was adopted.A total of 496 school-age children in grades1-6 in Shenzhen Eye Hospital from November 2021 to May 2022 were enrolled as the subjects.Grip strength and writing gesture of the subjects were obtained by an electronic grip strength meter and a tool pen.Diopter is obtained by objective refraction.To analyze whether there are differences in grip strength and myopia between children with correct writing gesture and children with incorrect writing gesture.Then explore there are other differences between the two groups of children.Results:1.There was no significant difference in grip strength between children with incorrect writing gesture and children with correct writing gesture posture(P=0.965).2.The results of binary logistic regression showed that there was no significant difference in myopia rate between the group with incorrect writing gesture and the group with correct writing gesture(P=0.678);the myopia rate of both eyes in the group with incorrect writing gesture was 1.788 times higher than that in the group with correct writing gesture(95%CI: 1.082-2.955).The results of multi category logistic regression showed that,with monocular myopia as the reference,the rate of binocular myopia in children with incorrect writing gesture was 2.608 times higher than that in children with correct writing gesture(95%CI: 1.340-5.075).3.The equivalent spherical diopter of the right eye of children with incorrect writing gesture was negatively correlated with the grip strength(r=-0.141,P=0.047).Conclusions:1.There is a correlation between writing gesture and myopia.2.Children with grip strength and incorrect writing gesture may also have higher degree of myopia in their right eye.
