The group of barefoot doctors arose in the 1960 s,active during the "Cultural Revolution",and withdrew from the historical stage during the reform and opening up.The emergence of barefoot doctors greatly improved the medical and health conditions of the rural areas of New China, where there was a shortage of doctors and medicines and the prevalence of infectious diseases, and quickly became one of the most representative "new things" at that time.Groups, whose images are often seen in the image works of the 1960 s and 1970 s,these images constructed through images are endowed with special political and era connotations, and they are a prominent visual under the interweaving of the cooperative medical system with the era and social background.characterization.This paper is mainly divided into three chapters.First,it traces the historical reasons for the emergence of barefoot doctors and its significance in the state governance of New China.Barefoot doctors,as the actual grass-roots practitioners of cooperative medical care, have won the affirmation of the people and the country, and have also become a symbol of rural cooperative medical care reform and have been visualized.Second, the image of the barefoot doctor also represented a special medical discourse in China at that time. The image of a barefoot doctor differs from other medical personnel in three ways. The first is the medicine box with special significance for barefoot doctors, which is a symbol of the poor and lower-middle peasants holding the right to medical treatment, and the second is the "barefoot" of "barefoot doctors",which is the biggest difference between them and other medical personnel, and it is also their role as a "barefoot doctor".The embodiment of laborers, but because of "barefoot",there are too many unopened ambiguities in Chinese social culture,so "barefoot" becomes an image in the performance of the image, not all barefoot doctors will appear barefoot. The third is to show the praise of the barefoot doctor through the depiction of the barefoot doctor serving the people tirelessly.Behind this praise is the gratitude to the country.Throughout the images of barefoot doctors, although they are mixed, there are generally some specific situational patterns, which are general expressions of the work of barefoot doctors. Finally,in the investigation of the images of barefoot doctors,we will find that barefoot doctors are often represented as female images. We can find very few images of male barefoot doctors. Many scholars have put forward different views on this phenomenon. The author will analyze this phenomenon from the discourse of "women’s liberation" at that time.We can see that in the image of barefoot doctors,"women’s liberation" and gender norms are intertwined, resulting in a contradictory image of barefoot doctors. We can think that,The image of the female barefoot doctor is specially designed, she is both a real character and a pure image.Through the image of the barefoot doctor,we can see the complex gender mechanism at that time.
