The Aquilaria Lam.is a highly valued non-timber resource species known mainly for its resin formed after injury.This kind of wood containing aromatic resin is called agarwood.Agarwood has a long history of use,it is widely used as a traditional medicine and perfume in China,Japan,India and Arabia,and resinous wood is often made into handicrafts and sold.The formation of agarwood requires external damage and long-term accumulation.With the application and popularization of the whole-tree agarwood-inducing technique(Agar-WIT)in China and Southeast Asian countries,this technology also has some problems in the actual production,such as long infusion time,low white wood utilization rate and limited caused by weather or environment,which restricting the development of this technology.Therefore,this article aims to clarify the feasibility and operability of the optimized technology and further optimize and improve the technical system of Agar-WIT through the optimization and upgrading research on improving the agarwood formation efficiency and utilization rate of white wood incense.The main research results are as follows:(1)By coatmring the infusion time and agarwood yield of the Agar-WIT under different infusion pressures,and the characters,identification,extract,agarwood area ratio,agarotetrol content,and characteristic chromatogram were studied.The results showed that infusion with high pressure can significantly shorten the infusion time of the Agar-WIT,and the efficiency is increased by 216%to 497%.The agarwood layer is brownish black,and there is brown star shaped agarwood overflow outside the annular agarwood layer.The agarwood under the pressure of 20 atm has the highest agarwood area ratio,which is 12.74%,with a yield of 426 g,an extract content of 16.33%,and an agarotetrol content of 0.30%.20 atm is the best infusion pressure for the high pressure infusion technology.The quality of agarwood produced by highpressure infusion Agar-WIT had met the Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard,and this technology is feasible and operable.(2)By coatmring the infusion time of high-pressure Agar-WIT and normalpressure Agar-WIT under different agarwood forming weather conditions such as sunny days,rainy days,nights,and low temperatures,and analyzing characters,identification,agarwood area ratio,extract,agarotetrol content,and characteristic chromatogram.The results showed that under different agarwood forming environmental conditions,Agar-WIT with the high-pressure can significantly shorten the infusion time,and improve the infusion efficiency by 129%to 497%.The quality of the agarwood produced had met the Chinese Pharmacopoeia standard.The TCL and characteristic chromatogram of agarwood is consistent with the reference medicinal material.The average agarwood area ratio,average extract,and average agarotetrol content are 11.69%,15.14%,and 0.45%.At night,Agar-WIT with high pressure can significantly improve the quality of agarwood,with the agarwood area ratio increasing from 8.15%to 10.08%,the extract increasing from 9.66%to 14.11%,and the agarotetrol content significantly increasing by 2.1 times coatmred to normal pressure.The Agar-WIT with high-pressure infusion method characterized by high infusion efficiency is not susceptible to weather or climate which can be carried at night,rainy days,and low temperatures and does not compromise the agarwood quality.This method has good universality.(3)By using the method of peeling off the bark of Aquilaria sinensis(Lour.)Gilg.incense and applying the agarwood forming liquid,the characteristics,microstructure,extract,characteristic chromatogram,and agarotetrol content produced by different peripheral agarwood forming liquid treatments of A,B,N,C,AN,BN,AB,and ABN were coatmred.The results showed that after peripheral peeling treatment,significant characteristics and microscopic characteristics of agarwood can be observed after six months of treatment with eight different formulations of agarwood forming liquid A,B,N,C,AN,BN,AB,and ABN,but the quality of agarwood obtained with different formulations varies.Among all the formulations of agarwood forming liquid,the quality of agarwood obtained by treatment with agarwood forming liquid C is the best agarwood forming liquid,with the highest content of extract and agarotetrol,which contents were 7.47%and 0.13%,respectively.The TCL and characteristic chromatogram of agarwood is consistent with the reference medicinal material.liquid C is the best peripheral agarwood forming liquid.(4)After the Aquilaria sinensis was treated with the Agar-WIT,the bark of the tree was peeled off and the agarwood forming liquid C was applied in the second and third months of the agarwood forming process.The characters,identification,extract,agarwood area ratio,agarotetrol content,and characteristic chromatogram of the AgarWIT superposed with the peripheral treatment for four and three months were coatmred.The results showed that the combination of Agar-WIT,and peripheral treatment can significantly increase the yield by 40%.The Agar-WIT after four months and three months of superimposed peripheral treatment formed a distinct brown annular layer of agarwood both inside and outside the tree.The TCL and characteristic chromatogram of inner and outer agarwood after the superimposed treatment is consistent with the reference medicinal material.The extract content of these agarwood was 10.55%20.54%,and the content of agarotetrol was 0.19%-1.64%,which is higher than the provisions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia standards.The peripheral agarwood-inducing technology can increase the yield of the Agar-WIT.The Agar-WIT can quickly induce the fast-peripheral agarwood information.The throughout the Agar-WIT and the peripheral agarwood-inducing technology play a role in promoting each other.This is the first time study to use two methods,high-pressure infusion and peripheral agarwood-inducing,to upgrade the Agar-WIT.It is found that the 20 atm pressure superimposed Agar-WIT can significantly improve the infusion efficiency,breaking through the limitations of weather and climate,and do not affect the quality.The production of the Agar-WIT can be significantly increased by applying the agarwood forming liquid C on the periphery of Agar-WIT.Both technologies are universal and advanced,and have been formulated corresponding operating standards,which can be used in actual production.This study provides a basis for the upgrading wider better application and promotion of the Agar-WIT,and also plays a positive role in promoting the standardization,processization,and normalization of the agarwood forming process.
