Objective:The aim of this study was to compare the effect of bone formation of immediate implant at the time of extraction to delayed implant on first or second molar by observing the bone resorption.Additionally, using the same method to discover and analyze the differences on bone resorption for immediate implant when using Bio-oss alone or mixing Bio-oss with biphasic calcium phosphate(BCP).Methods:Provided by a dental clinic in New Taipei City,Taiwan. Its electronic medical record system was used to inquire from January 2015 to January 2017.The medical records of 60 patients who have had implant placement immediately after tooth extraction were collected and divided into groups A,B,and C of 20 cases of using Bio-oss for delayed implant placement,20 cases using Bio-oss for immediate implant placement, and 20 cases which mixed Bio-oss and BCP bone respectively. All selected cases have less than 2mm of buccal bone volume, but were all restored greater than 3mm after bone grafting.Panoramic radiograph was used to record the Marginal Bone Level directly after surgery, half year,1 year,3 years and 5 years postoperative on each case. The data were statistically analyzed using the Stata statistical system.Result:1.All 60 patients reported to have different levels of pain or swelling which disappear after 3 to 7 days. When the stitches were removed, the wound showed no abnormalities and no infection.2.The 5 years survival rates of all groups were 100%.None of the implants had fallen off or become infected.3.The differences in marginal bone resorption between group A and B is not significant(P>0.05).In addition, the marginal bone resorption between group B and C is not notably different either.(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Either to use Bio-oss alone or to mix use Bio-oss with BCP bone material can both achieve a good result for bone augmentation of immediate implant placement for molars.2.The choice of bone restoration materials won’t affect the result for delayed implant or immediate implant placement.
