| Objective The goal of this study is to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of Modified Chai hu Gui zhi Gan jiang Decoction in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)who also have qi and yin deficiencies when used in combination with AP chemotherapy. To verify the synergistic and attenuated effects of Modified Chai hu gui zhi Gan jiang Decoction in the treatment of NSCLC,and to provide clinical data for the treatment of NSCLC by traditional Chinese medicine.Method The Department of Cancer at Weifang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine chose sixty patients who were eligible for enrollment from January 2021 to October 2022.The random number table approach was used to group the patients, with 30 cases serving as the control group and 30 cases as the treatment group. The treatment group received the Modified Chai hu Gui zhi Gan jiang Decoction + AP regimen whereas the control group received chemotherapy with AP regimen. The treatment cycle is 21 days for a total of 4 sessions.Observations, records and statistical analysis were made on the TCM symptom score, serum tumour markers, immune function, solid tumour efficacy,KPS score and adverse reactions in both groups and conclusions were drawn.Result In the course of the study, two patients in each group fell off,and the rest of the data were relatively complete.1.TCM symptom score:The efficacy rate for the treatment group was 89.29%,compared to 53.57%for the control group. In terms of statistics, the comparison between the two groups was significant(P<0.05).Following treatment, there were statistically significant(P<0.05)differences between the two groups’ TCM symptom scores for chest tightness, shortness of breath, dry mouth and bitter taste, mental fatigue, spontaneous sweating, night sweats, anorexia and bloating, emotional depression or upset, and constipation or loose stools.2.Serum tumor markers: Following therapy, the levels of CEA and CA125 in the two groups were substantially different when compared within each group(P<0.05),but not when compared across groups(P>0.05).3.Immune function: After treatment, the CD3+ and CD4+/CD8+ levels in both groups were statistically significant(P<0.05)when compared within the group and were significantly higher(P<0.05)in the treatment group compared to the control group when compared between the groups.4.The curative effect of neoplasms: When the objective remission rate(ORR)and disease control rate(DCR)were examined and contrasted between the two groups,it was discovered that the ORR in the control group was 21.4% and the DCR was85.7%,while the ORR in the treatment group was 28.6% and the DCR was 89.3%,indicating no significant difference between the two groups(p>0.05).5.KPS score: After treatment, there was no significant difference in the control group’s KPS score(P>0.05),but there was a significant difference in the treatment group’s KPS score(P<0.05),and there was a significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05).6.Adverse reactions: It was compared between the two groups’ rates of adverse events following four cycles of chemotherapy. The findings revealed that the treatment group experienced fewer adverse responses than the control group did,and that the incidence of nausea, vomiting, and bone marrow suppression was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Although the modified Chai hu Gui zhi Gan jiang Decoction combined with AP chemotherapy has no clinical objective effect, but patients’ clinical symptoms can be effectively improved with traditional Chinese medicine, and it can also boost their immune system, enhance their physical health, and lessen the side effects of chemotherapy to some extent. It is hypothesized that the modified Chai hu Gui zhi Gan jiang Decoction mixed with chemotherapy can lessen the clinical symptoms of the patients, enhance their prognosis, and have a synergistic and toxic effect. |
