ObjectiveChronic venous disease(CVD)is one of the most common diseases in vascular surgery. At the beginning, the patients often have the main symptoms of the shallow veins of the lower limb tortuous and prominent, lower limb pain, easy fatigue, and heavy after walking. These symptoms will have a certain impact on the quality of life of the patients. If they are not treated in a timely and effective manner, the patient’s condition will further worsen, and the venous reflux function of the lower limb will be further blocked,It seriously affects the quality of life and mental health of patients. At present, physical therapy, drug therapy and surgical treatment are the main treatment methods for varicose veins of lower limbs. At present, the surgical treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities has entered the era of minimally invasive treatment.Endovascular treatment is the main method, and foam sclerosing agent is often used in combination. This study mainly discusses the impact of the use time of foam sclerosing agent in the surgical treatment of varicose veins of lower extremities on the postoperative quality of life and surgery of patients.MethodsThis study collected the clinical data of 162 patients(162 affected limbs in total)with unilateral varicose veins of the lower extremities who received surgical treatment in the vascular surgery department of Southern Hospital of Southern Medical University(June 2021 to June 2022).According to the use of foam sclerosing agent during operation or one day before operation, patients were divided into preoperative sclerosing agent treatment group and intraoperative sclerosing agent treatment group. There were 83 patients(83 affected limbs)in the preoperative sclerosing agent treatment group and 79 patients(79 affected limbs)in the intraoperative sclerosing agent treatment group.By analyzing the operation time, intraoperative bleeding, median pain score(VAS score),postoperative quality of life score(QOL),postoperative recovery time, postoperative complications, and the outcome indicators of the closure rate of the main vein of the affected limb of patients three months after the operation of the two groups,to explore the impact of different use opportunities of foam sclerosing agent on the patients’ operation and postoperative conditions,Further,it can provide some reference for clinicians in the use of foam hardener,so as to better serve patients.ResultsA total of 162 patients were included in this study,44.4%of whom were male and 55.6%of whom were female, with an average age of 56.38±11.82 years. The average operation time in the preoperative sclerotherapy group was less than that in the intraoperative sclerotherapy group(P<0.05).The average operation time in the preoperative sclerotherapy group was 59±7.67 minutes, and the average operation time in the intraoperative sclerotherapy group was 64.63±7.92 minutes. The intraoperative blood loss in the preoperative sclerotherapy group was less than that in the intraoperative sclerotherapy group(P<0.05).The average intraoperative blood loss in the preoperative sclerotherapy group was 19.15±5.56 ml,and the average intraoperative blood loss in the intraoperative sclerotherapy group was 24.24±7.80 ml.The postoperative pain was assessed by visual analogue scale(VAS),and there was no statistical difference between the two groups. The quality of life and the severity of varicose veins of patients in the two groups were observed by postoperative follow-up.It was found that the quality of life and the severity of varicose veins of patients in the two groups were improved compared with those before surgery, and the degree of improvement in the preoperative sclerotherapy group was better. The complications of patients in the two groups were followed up 3 months after operation. There were 12 cases in the sclerotherapy group during operation and 13 cases in the sclerotherapy group before operation. There was no statistical difference.ConclusionThe results of this study found that the preoperative sclerotherapy group had better intraoperative bleeding volume, operation time and postoperative quality of life scores than the preoperative sclerotherapy group among the patients who received surgery for varicose veins of the lower extremities. The postoperative follow-up results of the two groups of patients showed that the use of foam sclerosing agent before and during the operation would not have adverse effects on the healing and recovery of patients and complications.
