Thermal Infrared Imaging-based Efficacy Of Hejieshaoyang Acupuncture Method On The Management Of Depressive Patients With Qiyu Constitution

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of Hejieshaoyang acupuncture method on the management of depressive patients with Qiyu constitution,this trail employed thermal infrared imaging method as one of the outcome measures.It aimed to provide new thoughts for the diagnosis and treatment of depression combined with Qiyu constitution.Content: This project was conducted based on the correlation between depression and Qiyu constitution.It applied Hejieshaoyang acupuncture method to intervene in the Qiyu constitution and depression.To investigate the clinical efficacy of the intervention,the results were measured by thermal infrared imaging method.The characteristics and temperatures of related areas of the images were compared between groups,before and after treatment.The Constitution in Chinese Medicine Questionnaires(CCMQ)and Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD-24)score were also evaluated.Methods: In total,66 depressive patients with Qiyu constitution were recruited based on the selection criteria at the Department of Preventative and Health Care,Qingdao Traditional Chinses Medicine Hospital(Qingdao Hiser Hospital).They were randomly divided into treatment group(n=33,Hejieshaoyang acupuncture method)and control group(n=33,conventional acupuncture).The infrared thermal imaging method was used to objectively measure the temperature changes in the chest,coastal and forehead regions.The CCMQ and HAMD-24 were used to evaluate the clinical efficacy between groups before and after treatment.Results:1.The temperature of related area,CCMQ scores,and HAMD-24 scores were significantly decreased(P<0.01)comparing before and after treatment.The values of the treatment group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).2.The total effectiveness rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:1.The temperature of the chest,coastal and forehead regions may be an indicator of the improvement of Qiyu constitution.2.Both interventions can effectively improve the Qiyu constitution and depressive symptoms.However,Hejie Shaoyang acupuncture method was superior to the conventional acupuncture on the clinical efficacy.
