Objective: This project aims to evaluate the clinical efficacy of Dong’s unique points combined with balancing acupuncture in the treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee(KOA)with Qi stagnation and blood stasis, using the Western Ontario and Mc Master University Osteoarthritis Index Score(WOMAC),Visual Analogue Score(VAS)and Chinese Medicine Evidence Score Scale as efficacy observation indicators. The aim of this study is to provide a reference for the Chinese medicine treatment of osteoarthritis of the knee with Qi stagnation and blood stasis. Methods: The 70 patients who met the inclusion criteria were divided into the test and control groups according to the random number table method. The control group was treated with conventional acupuncture method, and the experimental group was treated with Dong’s unique points combined with balanced acupuncture method, and the course of treatment was 4 weeks for both groups. The efficacy observation indexes such as WOMAC scale,VAS scale and TCM syndrome score scale were applied before and after treatment to comprehensively evaluate the clinical efficacy of the two groups, mainly in terms of pain, stiffness, joint function and improvement of TCM syndrome. The rate of decrease in VAS scores was calculated before and after each treatment for the first three days of treatment to evaluate the degree of immediate pain relief in both groups.Statistical analysis was performed by applying R language(version 4.2.2).Results:(1)The total WOMAC score,WOMAC subscores,VAS scores and TCM symptoms scores decreased in both groups after treatment compared with those before treatment, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).(2)After treatment, the effect of the test group was better than that of the control group in terms of total WOMAC score,VAS score, and TCM symptoms score, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).For each subscale of WOMAC scores after treatment, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05)when comparing the two groups in terms of pain and joint mobility scores. However, for stiffness scores, the differences between the two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).(3)In terms of the degree of immediate pain relief, the effect of the test group was better than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)Comparing the efficacy of the two groups of TCM symptoms, the total effective rate was 90.91% in the test group and 75.76% in the control group, with no statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion: Both Dong’s unique points combined with balancing acupuncture and conventional acupuncture can improve pain, stiffness, joint function and TCM symptoms in patients with KOA with Qi stagnation and blood stasis. However, compared to the latter, the former can significantly improve the patient’s pain and joint function,as well as provide more advantages in terms of immediate pain relief and improvement of TCM symptoms. In conclusion,Dong’s unique points combined with balancing acupuncture have higher efficiency and are worthy of further clinical application.
