| Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the application effect of the combination of traditional Chinese medicine,Huangqi Sijunzi Decoction, and adjuvant chemotherapy on chemotherapy for postoperative breast cancer(BC)patients.A randomized comparative study focusing on the use of Huangqi Sijunzi Decoction on important indicators related to breast cancer chemotherapy patients on short-term survival, immune function, quality of life,FACT-B scale, chemotherapy side effects, liver and kidney function, neurotoxicity, bone marrow suppression, tumor markers, and neurotoxicity. Methods:From January 2016 to December 2020,a total of 216BC patients who underwent radical surgery and received chemotherapy in our hospital were studied. They were randomly divided into two groups, with 108 patients in each group. The control group received routine postoperative chemotherapy, while the intervention group received Huangqi Sijunzi Decoction in addition to chemotherapy. The study’s main endpoint was QOL score, while the secondary endpoints were the safety and toxicity of the treatment plan. Results:The chemotherapy regimen caused mild non-hematological toxic effects, such as vomiting(43.6%),fatigue(36.9%),pain(23%),dry mouth(27.6%),and diarrhea(7.9%).The incidence of adverse events in the intervention group(0.57%)was significantly lower than that in the control group(4.02%)(P=0.037).The intervention group had a lower frequency of temporarily severe hematological toxic reactions(11.9%decrease in hemoglobin,42%decrease in total bilirubin)than the control group(22.5%decrease in hemoglobin,46.2%increase in total bilirubin).Combining traditional Chinese medicine and adjuvant chemotherapy can partially alleviate the symptoms caused by chemotherapy. The short-term survival rate, immune function, quality of life before and after treatment, and chemotherapy-related adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. The results showed no significant difference in short-term survival rate between the two groups(P>0.05).After treatment, the intervention group had higher levels of CD4~+and CD4~+/CD8~+ratio and lower levels of CD8+than the control group(P<0.05).The score of the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Breast(FACT-B)scale was lower in the intervention group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Qisijunzi decoction can improve the immune function of chemotherapy patients after BC surgery, alleviate the adverse reactions of chemotherapy, and ensure quality of life, which has clinical application value. |
